Not Sure What To Do

I had surgery in 2007 and am still maintaining my goal weight.  But I have to be aware of it every day.  I weigh every day.  I track my food, calories, protein, carbs, and fiber.  I take my vitamins and get exercise.

Your uncle gained all of his weight back because he did not do those things.  Surgery is the right answer if you are willing to do the work too.  Pregnancy will be much easier without being obese.  So will raising those children.

If those pills and other alternatives actually worked, nobody would have surgery.  There is no other answer, just things to take your time and money until you finally make up your mind for a permanent solution.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the input from people who have been in my shoes. That's why I love this website.

It's a scary decision, but so worth it. Your doctor is only the first step in this process (and it can be a long process) but he is the first step. Give it some thought and then have that conversation with him.  You are worth it!

Use your uncle's experience to your advantage, as a learning tool.

You CAN do this !

Don't get in WLS if you are trying to get pregnancy. WlS is a big decision and you need to choose what is the best for you. Read and read and learn.

Thank you for replying! Like I said in another reply,  if I decide to go with wls I am more than willing to wait however long I need to after the surgery in order to be healthier for future pregnancies and children.  Thank you, again.

I had laparascopic gastric bypass surgery in October 2009 and I have not regretted my decision once.  I am now 64 years old, and am far healthier than I was decades ago.  Facing surgery, I suffered from arthritic knees, sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and an irregular heartbeat.  My surgery reversed/improved everything - my heart beat is still slightly irregular, but my doctor says that my heart thinks it is on vacation in the Carribbean!!

I cannot tell you what to do - the decision must be yours, because you have to be committed to following through post-surgery.

For me, knowing what I know now, I would still have the surgery - I just wish I could have had it decades ago!!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I have a doctor's Appointment tomorrow and I plan to bring it up to him during the appointment.
