then I lost 5 lbs. this week..all I changed was more walking and stopped eating after 8pm.. so why are people that have regained going through a 5 day pouch diet  to get the weight back off?!

Perhaps changes in diet and exercise didn't work for them and they wanted to try something else?

I know, I can't believe it either. This is so easy, right? I don't even know why I had the surgery. Just lazy, I guess.

Oh, Wendy!  If only everyone were as perfect as you, none of us would have needed WLS in the first place ...

This is only mildly condescending.  Why did you not just diet and exercise your way down to goal instead of taking the easy way out?

I'm a vote for managing as I go- I hate hate hate the losing part so much. I sure hope I can and intend to continue doing the daily work.

I'm pretty sure the 5 day pouch test would set up a deprivation/binge cycle for me plus it's hard on the body. But whatever works....

You are probably one of the last people I would take medical advice from.

HuskerGal...that was a pretty insensitive statement to all the other people that are attempting to lose weight.  I am hoping the intention was to tell people how excited you are to have been able to achieve this additional weight loss so easily.  The 5dpt gets people weaned off carbs basically.  It kind of gives your body a kick start and gives people the ability to `feel`their stomach sizes properly.  It works for some, not for others....sort of like any food program.  By the way, how about some stats from you...when was your surgery, how much have you lost...are you at goal.....what have you found foodwise, that works for you..........

Probably because they read posts here about OTHER people doing it so they can "feel" their pouch again, can do a carb detox, etc. -- ALL of which can be done while still eating solid, healthy foods in small amounts!

I am a strong opponent of the 5DPT because of the psychological aspects of it (it just reinforces the old, failed dieting mentality which directly contradicts what we need to do in order to have long term weight maintenance success), but many people will not have your experience of losing 5 pounds (of actual fat, no****er, anyway) in a single week just by doing more walking and cutting out a snack/meal.

It is great that it was apparently quite easy for you, but don't make the assumption that everyone else would have the same results with the same modifications in just a week's time.  (You probably also shouldn't assume that all 5 pounds were fat rather than water until you see what the scale say as a week from now.)

Sorry, I have to say it but you are one of the biggest attention getters here. I think you need to get help for it.
