Hump of fat across the butt??
Since I lost weight on the lower half of the body first, it started to disappear quickly and was gone by the time I'd lost 60 pounds. I do believe all the speed walking I did in the early months helped. Later, though I noticed that I had nobutt after years and years of a huge one. Since then I've done a lot of exercises targeted to the butt, which has helped some. But trading that elephant shelf for no butt was a worthy trade!

I'm so worried about this too...I have lost 80 lbs in 3 months and I seem to be losing more from my upper body than my bottom half. I have gone down a few sizes BUT...my butt and my stomach dont seem to be shrinking very much!! I have even noticed inches lost in my inner thighs. I'm so paranoid that I'm going to be all out of proportion! I can't quite enjoy wearing cute little shirts becuase my tummy is big and needs to be covered up by a long shirt! I keep hoping I'll wake up one morning and my stomach and my butt will have shrank
I need the fairy butt mother to come and shrink it!!

The Butt Shelf is a mystery to me. During my one big previous weight loss attempt, the Shelf refused to go and I lost all in the upper body. I was prepared to accept it as a fact of life, but after my wls, the shelf was one of the first things to go! I noticed it disappearing around the 50lb loss.
I have no idea what is different this time than last. I'm actually excercising less (shame on me!) than before. I'm clueless. Of course, the saddlebags have decided to stick around. I guess you can't have everything!
Hi Jeannie! How are ya honey? Hope all is well.
I also had that "fat pad" right sort of below my neck in the back. You could see it when I wore a top with a wide neck (and I hated it). Someone called it a "dowager's hump" and it was all I could do to keep from slapping them! LOL
Good news though, it was one of the first things to slim down and it has gone away completely. So don't warry. For me the tummy and hips were (are) still the last to go...still workin' on em. Love and hugs, Joy xo

"Someone called it a "dowager's hump" and it was all I could do to keep from slapping them! LOL"
NOT a "pretty name", is it? But that really what that thing's called---I guess because it's pretty typical on elderly, and presumably married, women. (I don't think men get this 'hump' , no matter how larger they are.)
I'm glad to report that my 'dowager's hump' was one of the first things to go for me---but my 'butt shelf' is still hanging around, alas!
