Getting Closer to Surgery

Yesterday I woke up feeling blah blah, which I assure you is rare. I was like "after ten years of research I still have FIVE days until I meet with the surgeon" and a spring and summer filled with activities that will take place with such better enjoyment after WLS surgery.  I am a very organized and proactive person, so around 11:30 AM, after being blah blah blah all morning, I call the bariatric center's office on the pretext I had forgotten my appointment time on  Friday

I have done everything ahead of time to be ready for the appointment with the exception of nutrition and psych eval, which will likely be scheduled after the surgical meeting on Friday. This includes all the 'scopy's and sleep tests and joined a gym (attend 4 classes a week to work out!) lost 14 pounds, etc etc.

It really helped to call the bariatric office, I spoke with the NP I saw in December when I dropped off my paperwork. She elevated my hopes and got me back on track by letting me know I am doing everything right, everything I can be doing (to include testing protein drinks for the liquid diet).

I am feeling much better, and NOW it's only 4 days until Friday's appointment

I just wanted to say this!  Thanks for reading it!

Cool! Do your research first and go prepared with lots and lots of questions re: your options and the pros and cons of everything! We're ready when we're ready, not a second sooner.

Congrats on making this choice and putting yourself first!  I'm 8 weeks post-op an feel fantastic...I know you will too!  Since you are testing protein drinks, I really like EAS Carb Advantage and Unjury unflavored protein powder to add in to food for the liquid phase.  I also made my own drinks with the Unjury because I could get more protein into less liquid (important, especially at the beginning with that swollen pouch).  I don't like milk and these worked for me.  Keep up the good work!
