Here's your ton of bricks

“You know you need to take better care of your health. You keep waiting for some motivation. Here's your ton of bricks.”

Exactly what are you waiting for? Heart attack, diagnosis of diabetes, for the scale to actually break when you step on it? You're going to have to find the motivation inside of you. You have to decide that THIS is the moment. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month, and not the next time you DON'T have leftover cake in the house. Make a list of how your life will be better if you do make some healthy changes. Make another list of how your life will likely be if you don't make changes. Pick the list you can LIVE with.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Yup, awareness and choices...

Definitely something to think about.  That is similar to what my hubby did before deciding to have surgery.  We were on a road trip and he was bemoaning the latest problems because of his weight creep.... he was about 400 pounds at that point.  He realized that there was a very long list of things that his weight was interfering with.

He grabbed a notebook (5x7) in the car and started writing while I drove.... he filled 5 pages!!!!!  It really made thing**** home to him how much better his life would be without all that extra weight!  He kept those pages to look back anytime he got discouraged and it has been great seeing things change for him.
