Eat Your Banana's.."The Whole Banana"
Dr. Oz showed us on his show 2 days ago, you can now eat your whole Banana, Banana Peel included. who knew? right...I was feeding my banana peels to the horses all this time.. Banana peels provide alot of Magnesium, it acts as a relaxing .. There's more. He showed the way to be able to eat your peels too, put the Banana in a pan of water cook, and bring to a boil ( about 5 to 10 min.) medium heat. remove both ends first, the juice that is formed while cooking the Banana makes as a Banana Tea drink.. I tried this yesterday and have to say I really liked it..
Have to say I hope Dr. Oz Show stays "ON AIR" for many years to come...I love all I have learned from watching his show..PeaceV Wendy

I would not do that... Most bananas are imported and sprayed with so many chemicals that making the water out of that and then eating the peel - probably will make all teh chemical into the water. Now - you probably can do that with organic...

I would be extremely skeptical of these sorts of claims. Even though Dr. Oz went to Harvard, he's promoted faith healing and energy medicine, which have zero basis in science. He's endorsed pseudoscientific "tongue examination" as a means of diagnosing health programs, and suggests that grieving families visit psychics to speak to their dead relatives. He often promotes the claims of Dr. Joe Mercola, who promotes all sorts of pseudoscience, such as that sleeping on a sheet that is connected to the ground with wire will significantly improve your health.
To get specific, you can compare many of his claims against published scientific research and come up empty:
* Dr. Oz promotes zinc for weight loss because it "reduces hunger." A 2012 study of 580 women found zinc was not associated with obesity or the hormone level he cites. (Garcia et al. 2012)
* Dr. Oz promotes DHA fish oil supplements for many health benefits. Many systematic reviews show that this does NOT prevent cardio issues (stroke, heart attack, death) and one review found a higher risk of adverse events because of gastrointestinal side effects (Rizos et al. 2012)
* Dr. Oz says vitamin D can prevent various cancers. A government study found that vitamin D supplements have no effect on cancer risk. (Keuhn 2012).
On top of that, he's apparently anti-vaxx, which is a MAJOR indicator of scientific ignorance in my book.
So... eat what you want to, but be careful, and check with YOUR doctor to be extra-safe! (But that's just one scientific skeptic's opinion!)

I'm going to respectfully disagree. People have lived for thousands of years... and up until fairly recently, they were lucky to see 30.
Yes, people probably take more medication than they did 100 years ago-- but on average, they live MUCH longer, and their quality of life from minor illnesses is greatly improved.
I can agree that positive thinking, meditation, and participation in spiritual practice are good things for your emotional health. But when you look at the simple outcomes, the number of tumors that have disappeared because of intercessory prayer are far, far, FAR outweighed by the number that have disappeared because of chemotherapy.
Indeed, pharmaceutical companies do fund research studies, but often those involving their own products; I doubt they'd waste their money looking at issues like the ones I discussed above.
I think that there is serious systematic difficulty with the American medical system, but for very different reasons than you address here.

I honestly can't think of anyone worse at giving nutritional advice than Dr. Oz.. the more famous he gets the more he is paid to promote products that are nothing but fake science and fads.
Bananas are one of the worst foods one can eat during weight loss. If I am going to eat that much sugar with sooooo very little nutrition I'm just going to go for it and have my ice cream Twix bar, it's fewer calories.
