have you tried the powders too or just ready made? i found most ready made shakes to be disgusting. i switched to powders (specifically isopure) and that worked for me. making shakes myself was way better than anything pre-packaged.

My taste buds definitely changed but not for like...a year after surgery. I hated every thing except premier. Now I am addicted and obsessed with protein shakes.

You have to realize that they aren't going to taste great or even good compared to most stuff youve been eating. Retraining your brain is Defintiely part of the process. At the very least, this is jus a temporry thing for a couple months and you do what you have to do

Post op - I sipped my shakes. Eventually I got smart and started using little straws to sip them and didnt have to taste the shakes much...

I'm 3 weeks post op and have a hard time with the shake flavors now.  I now and drinking the unjury unflavored protein shake and can make that into something I like.  The protein shakes didn't bother me before surgery but now I hate them.  Maybe give that a try and see if it helps.

I have the occasional shake especially after running or coming in from the gym and being too overexerted to eat solids... so I'd have a shake as opposed to missing a meal.  I love using the whey powder protein my fave flavor is Vanilla ... I put a scoop in the blender with some blueberries or strawberries and water... add tons of ice and crush for a nice delicious smoothie.... I have used the powder also with no fruit only a sprinkle of nutmeg and lots of ice with water added of course ... it blends to an awesome eggnog flavor with the nutmeg .... Keep trying different flavors/consistencies until you find what works for you ... I bet you will ... or tweak it to taste .... best wishes for an awesome continued journey!!!

Sorry, but there is NO WAY you have tried almost every shake out there. I know you were being facetious, but still,it is not a choice. You have to look at it like medicine. And. Just do it. I found out once I got used to the whole protein shake thing I could drink about any brand of powder. I have never liked a single pre made shake so lucky for me I got over it and was able to get on with it.
You might try mixing them with. Unsweetened almond milk and the jay Robb powders are a bit more mild. i use the egg white and it is. Also not as sweet.
Egg white powder is as bio available as isolate.

I had the same problem!!! I found Matrix vanilla and chocolate. the vanilla madr with 1% milk and ice cubes in a blender...almost tadtr likr mcd's shake. the chocolate mixrd with small amount of cold water till it is "muddy" then add warm to ho****er for a pretty good "hot chocolate". try it. its not bad.. 8 yrs out its the only protein I use....

Have you tried EAS lean or EAS CarbAdvantage? Those are the only two I can stand myself.

The flavors are amazing, the recipes are all simple, delicious, and fun, and my favorite is the chicken soup flavor! Better than any bouillon broth I ever had. 33g of the best protein. Everything they use is medical grade and only American ingredients. Nothing from China!! I am 8 years out and just recently found this site. So glad I did. I can even mix vanilla and strawberry lemonade with sugar free vanilla icecream to impersonate a Starbucks cotton candy frappuccino! Yummy stuff and great ideas on the unjury site. Enjoy!

Hi,

I know its probably been difficult finding a protein shake that you like, but they are out there.  Check the different websites for recipes and advice on how to PROPERLY make them.  I find some of the RTD DISGUSTING also, but they are convenient.  I REALLY like ISOPURE.  It is very good and easy to mix in a variety of ways...like with coffee, chocolate soymilk, almond milk, fat free milk or water and fruits of all types especially MANGO.  You might try the sugarfree flavorings, and although a little pricey I like the RTD protein you can get online from BartatricEating. com.  They have their own RTD and they are pretty good.  You just have to KEEP TRYING and don't give up.  Many places will send you samples as well to try out.  Also when mixing in a plender try PULSING so that you dont end up with a shake full of air and enough for 5 people.  One last tip... make some sugar free choclate pudding and put a couple tablespoons in your shake.  That helped me get it down in the beginning. GOOD LUCK!
