Kitty power, LOL! (I'm no crazy cat lady, but I do volunteer at the animal shelter! kiss)

The bargains are the only reason I'm looking into them. I tried one out at the store at the mall, saw the price tag, and said "HELL NAW!" But this one is under $300, and I'll totally try it out!

I vote Tempurpedic!  It is the best mattress I have ever slept on! I wake up feeling great everyday...has helped my back a lot! If I were still huge it would probably be too hot...but now i'm smaller it isn't an issue.  The sleep number is horrible...HATED it!  Everyone I know who had one loved them for about 2-3 months...then started to have issues...or just felt it wasn't comfortable anymore.  If you have slept on an air mattress ....you have basically experienced the Sleep Number!  Lol! If you liked it...buy a cheap pillow topper and an air mattress put them together ...save a couple grand! Lol! good luck!

P.S No  I do  NOT work for tempurpedic!  Lol! Look at other makers  I believe Serta or sealy make an icomfort?  similar to temputpedic. has some sort of "cooling" feature My sis has one and loves it...she is also a convert from a Sleep Number!

Jimbo,

Thanks for weighing in, no pun intended!  Congrats on such a huge victory.  OH my, ... LOL.

We have gone to hotels and stayed cuz they advertised sleep number beds and we wanted to try them out and I could not find my number, LOL.  Hubby loved it.  It was preset at 45 and he stayed at 45!  I was down to 20 and up to 85.  But we are fortunate to have one fo those sleep number analysis stores near here so I want to be fair and sure so we will do that too.

Going out today to do lots of testing.  The research begins.

Sounds like it may be a temperpedic or a generic form of it since that is so much more affordable.

This is worse than buying a car or house for gosh sakes.

We had a Temperpedic...would not EVER touch one of those again. Too soft for me, too hot for me too hard for my dh. Maybe the new ones have fixed this issue but one thing that was the final straw...

We had the Temperpedic while living in MI....during the month of Feb one year, the outside temp did not exceed 30 degrees....that also happened to be when our subdivision suffered a gas line explosion and our house was affected. We had to evacuate for 5 days while they stabilized the line and could let us back in our house. During that time, there was no heat in the house. The damned mattress FROZE! The other mattresses in the house, (NOT Temperpedic) did not freeze.

I will never, ever again spend my hard earned dollars on a Temperpedic...and will not recommend the mattress.

Oh my goodness, southern.

Frozen??? LOL.

What do you have now?  We clearly have tons of research.

Thanks for sharing this funny though painful for you and hubby story.  Made my morning.  Oh my.  Life is so unpredictable, eh?

OH NO...we gave it away shortly afterward and switched to a Stearns and Foster which did very well but after 4 moves (one which actually bent the mattress) and 7 years, it died.

We are currently using one my daddy passed along that is only about a year old when he got a new one but we are also on a hunt for a new one this coming year.

I have a tempurpedic and LOVE IT!  I used to wake in the morning barely able to move because of my back issues.  After the first night on my tempurpedic, no morning back pain.  Very pricey mattress but it was so worth it for me.

LOL on needing love and chocolate.  Amen, sister.

We are going to try the much touted tempurpedic today!  Our research begins.

Thanks for replying and how great you found something for your back.  Heaven.

I know this is really late but I just found your question. When I was about to have surgery, I needed a new bed. Since I was going to lose a lot of weight, the bed had to be comfortable before, during and after surgery. I bought a Comfort Select bed, the NUMBER bed. OMG!!!!! The best investment I've ever made. 11 years later, it is STILL the BEST bed I've ever slept on. When I am in a mall and see one of their stores, I stick my head in and yell, "This is the best bed on the PLANET"! LOL

I hope you found one you enjoy.

Anne
