All my requirements have been finished for atleast a week now and my file still has not been sent to Insurance. I am so mad I call almost everyday and cant get ahold of anyone, then when I do the Dr. Office tells me my file is the exact same way it was before no progress........ Dont they understand my insurance is going to take 2-4 weeks to process that file....

Update I was approved the same date after my surgeons office financial coordinator talked to insurance

We know it's hard, but hang in there and keep calling!  Is it an option to get a copy and find out who you can send it to at your insurance company? Post this on our Insurance, Cash Pay and Financing Forum and see if you can get some suggestions from members there as well as here. We wish you luck    It will happen!

Don't take it sitting down. Keep calling and pressing 0 or whatever until you get a human. Demand to know WHY it hasn't been sent yet, what's holding it back and when, exactly, it WILL be sent. There are too many doctors (and their offices) in this world that think THEY hold all the cards and they forget that THEY work for US, not the other way around.

1. Ask WHY it has not been sent.

2.  Call the office manager and insist it be sent today. Ask her for a time commitment and then call the insurance company about 1 hour after that time to check if they got it. If not--repeat the cycle.

3.. Go to there office, ask to see the office manager or Program Director and insist you will not leave until you see them fax the file to the insurance company. Be polite ( Well, at least to start) but adamant.

This is absurd. Stay on top of this. Take names, dates and phone numbers.

4. If you can't get them to do it, fax a letter to your surgeon outlining the problem--including names, dates, etc.

Most insurance companies seem to do the turnaround in 2 weeks or less.

I did talk to them today! They told me first I needed a medically necessary letter and they were going to write one up today, then just got a  all back saying that the are going to hold on to my file till Monday because there was a typo on my file saying I was not a candidate for WLS. So it needed to be updated and corrected.

Morons.  They know that every file needs a letter of medical necessity. That should have been one of the first things added to the file and, of course, no file is complete without it. It's a form letter and they type in your name and a couple of stats. 5 minute max.

It takes 5 minutes at most to change a typo saying you are not a candidate to you are a candidate and reprint the bleepin' page.

All told, there can't be more than 15 minutes of work involved here and they've already wasted a week. There's no reason it can't be done NOW and submitted today. That will get you ahead of the usual rush of submissions on Monday morning.

Call back and push.

Tried that too...lol  I was told the my Dr. who wrote the typo has to confirm it was either a typo or a mistake that has been fixed and she is not there today. Its just one thing after another.

I went through something similar (not as frustrating as your experience, but I was still frustrated!)

My surgery ended up being scheduled about 2 weeks after what I originally thought it would be. (I was up against a time crunch since I was starting school again in September and I wanted to be done with recovery by then.)

Those extra two weeks killed me! But when I look back at it, 2 weeks didn't make or break me.

I hope things get approved quickly for you! Your surgery date will be here before you know it! :)

Amber is typically off on Fridays and getting a hold of Dr. Richardson is darn near impossible. You might get Melanie when everyone else is out but she will just refer you back to Amber. It's a vicious cycle in that office. I often question how they are a Center of Excellence for WLS in all honesty.
