AAAAARGH. Sorry for the long post.
I've been on my weight loss journey since May 2011. I have 27 pounds left to go. I am at the point of complete and total frustration. I have had ONE CHEAT DAY since I have embarked on this journey. Of course I am sure my tale is similar to most others. Up and down, then up higher than I started. I finally had a Roux-N-Y on May 4, 2011.
I have been following my nut diet and losing slow. I have hit plateaus before, but have finally broken through them.
I worked out before, but started with a personal trainer this year. By the time he is done with me I am a soggy mess, then do another hour of cardio.
I work out 7 days a week. I am at the gym a minimif bike/elipitical.um of 3 hours, except on my cardio only day. Then I a there 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. I do bike, elipitical, tradmill, and an Octane machine that is a combo of bike and elipitical. I have only missed 2 workout days sine February.
I am also trying to find a yoga and pitates class. I am glad I don't have to work. I don't have time.
My trainer said I am not eating enough, but I can't his whole days food down. As soon as I finish breakfast I have to have my snack. Then it's time for lunch. Lunch lasts till snack...then dinner. I talked to him and we cut the portions in half. It still have a hard time eating it all. All I eat are lean chicken, turkey or fish, broccoli, green beans, spinichh, and kale. I can eat brown rice, or sweet potato. 2 egg whites and one yolk and a piece of dry whole wheat toast or 1/2 cup oatmeal for breakfast. Protein drinks or a protein bar for snack. I am in no way hungry.
I have only lost 6 pounds since starting the heavy training. I know that a lot of it has turned to muscle. I understand the concept of metabolism, etc.
HELP!!!! WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG ( and yes, I want to use an expletive..lol)
I am so frustrated. I am ready to give up and just go back to a lard-butt.
LOOKING FOR ANY AND ALL IDEAS AND THOUGHTS. PLEEASR AND THANKS
There's a theory that if you work out really hard that your body builds up cortisol which impedes weight loss. Read Gary Taubes-Why we get fat for more information on this.
I think your trainer is correct that you're not eating enough for how hard you're working out. But WLS is a different beast from most of the other clients probably. You're not going to be able to eat a ton of volume.
Have you checked your body fat percentage? Your goal "weight" should be whatever gives you the correct body fat percentage. For women, fit is 21-24% body fat. Athletes have 14-20% typically for females. Males are much less.
Check this out: http://www.builtlean.com/2010/08/03/ideal-body-fat-percentag e-chart/ It has a body fat percentage chart by age. It can be a big difference. By the metropolitan weight charts I should weight 115. By the body fat chart and my age, my ideal weight is more like 137. You may be closer than you think you are to ideal weight. And when your body is close to ideal weight, it's going to fight to maintain it.
That is what my trainer says. I try and eat all he wants me to. The problem is there is not enough time in the day to accompli**** I can't eat fast or a lot at a time. If I try and finish his whole lunch meal (5 oz lean meat, 1 cup green veggies, and 1/2 cup sweet potato or brown rice) it is just too much and it won't well.... stay down.
We cut portions in 1/2 and I can keep it down, but it takes me like 2 1/2 hrs to eat it.
I think I would be better off finding a liquid meal replacement.

To me you sound amazingly determined and strong-willed . All this effort WILL bear fruit in the form of a taut amazingly shaped athletic graceful desireable body . Its one of the personal trainers' banes that the clients who work hardest seem to lose the least ( because muscle weighs three times as much as the comparable volume of fat , because pumped muscles draw water ( become heavy ) . Look at the SIZE of your clothes .. never the number on the scale . The most gorgeous women in the world weigh amazingly much.. olympic sprinters n swimmers , pole vaulters , gymnasts...
Thanks for the support. I understand the idea of looking at clothes size. When I wear clothes it's not too bad.
I still have too much fat in a few places (thighs and stomach). It doesn't look that bad in clothes but I know it's there, and all the charts still say I'm overweight. Believe me, I am thankful I am no longer considered morbidly or even obese. I just want to be 'HEALTHY".
I just can't understand why I am stuck so close to my goal while I am working harder than ever. Looking for ideas to get the rest off. Thanks for the input!!
How about try to exercise less? and add some fat to the mix.. You need fat to burn fat. Nuts, avocado, coconut oil..
