Just another curious question. Can we live off of Protein Shakes, Clear Liquids and Vitamins?

Thanks

Well, yes, but no one would want to do it for long. For one thing, if you go too long without much fiber you're going to have some bowel issues. You could take Miralax, I guess.

WLS does, in most cases, mean changing your diet permanently---but not THIS drastically!

LOL just wondering how long I can survive if I tried.

People do medically supervised liquid diet for months if not years. My friend was on that for 1.5 years - she lost 200 lbs. (she did not have WLS) Unfortunately - she gained 30-40 back already...

I have done that for months at a time.  I live alone and it was easier, but I did have to add benefiber.  Your body does not seem to care whether your protein comes from solid foods or from protein shakes.

it is boring and that does not stay in my pouch.. I had to do that for a while due to pain after eating... usually after a few days I would get so hungry... and I wanted to EAT something... anything...

Did the weight say off? I'm trying to lose weight but nothing seems to work. I'm always at the gym and I eat healthy. But I've always wanted to try this.

It seems to me you've already made up Ur mind how you " want to live " post op .  If Ur vision includes eating lots of fatty foods and staying "thin" just realize this is no shape of "normal" or " healthy ".  What is the REAL life expectancy of people with extreme malabsorption ( ie the DS ) ?  what are the rates of kidney disease , pancreatic cancer and other cancers ?  COULD this be related to the high amount of top-of -the -foodchain meat and fat consumption ? To me , the malabsorption essentially makes U into an eighty year old .. who naturally malabsorb almost all their calories .  Is this WORTH it merely to eat BACON and Buffets  ?  surprise

Yes RNY living post op can seem kind of silly with vitamin monitoring , protein coffees, having to move daily  etc.  Personally I don't find I need to do any of this but in the loosest sense but I'm glad I know what to do if I get uncontrollably hungry or feel weak or cramped .  This is not to say that I advocate an RNY above a sleeve .. just know that U CAN stretch out a sleeve pretty easily and many people do not lose the weight they want to with one .  Many people regain with the RNY too ... I haven't personally .

For what its worth the hottest bodies and best longterm  health I've seen on here have been largely RNY people . But  maybe I'm prejudiced .  Good luck with Ur decision!

My version of the " radical " weight loss diet is a giant pot of collard greens or  kale .. another of tasty ( brown )  rice n( organic)  beans made from scratch ..fat free soups  and protein chai tea ...

unlimited garden vegetables , unlimited snacking on fresh picked pesticide free  organic fruits I grow myself ... and lots of " events " like the Obies and Tonys  that make me have to dress up and look hotter than the other Grrlz ....

(((()))))) good luck !   To me ,  .. a rich life is the best  diet !
