We are not trying to be hostile Molly read the OPs posting history. This post appears to those of that responded as a slap in the face for those that have gained 20 lbs or more. I haven't regained but I also know fewer don't than do.

Are you concerned that a hidden medical problem may be keeping you from gaining weight dispite the kind of foods you eat?  I am worried about my husband.  He has not had weight loss surgery, but he has suddenly started losing weight in the past year.  I am glad to see him thinner, because his weight was harming his health, but I worry because he was not trying.  My brother in law lost a ton of weight, and we were all congratulating him, but we did not know he had cancer.  It was not diagnosed until he was very sick and he died soon after.  It was devastating to all who loved him.   I am trying to get my husband to have a colonoscopy; he has not had one in  5 years, and there is colon cancer in his family.  But he is stubborn, and does not like doctors and tests.

If you have worries about your weight and health, please discuss with your doctor.  Have a colonoscopy if needed; get mammograms and pap smears as a vital part of your preventive health care.  Then, you will be able to relax, and not worry.

I believe that some of us may be lucky enough to retain a lot of our malabsorption even at five years out.  I have not regained even though I eat very differently than I did when I was a new post-op.  I eat things with full fat, full sugar, and high carbs.  I don't eat a lot and I don't do it every day.

I feel much better when I eat low fat, sugar free, and low carb.  I feel much better when I get regular exercise and keep my body moving. I don't get punished by gaining 20 pounds after eating a donut.  I do feel rotten.  When I eat the wrong things, or too much salt, my clothes get tight, my body swells, my energy drops.  I weigh daily and am always aware and conscious of what I weigh.  At my current size 4, a five pound gain has me pulling out size 6 clothes.

Last week I indulged in fresh tomatoes and an ear of fresh corn.  I used too much salt and have felt miserable for days.  The scale has started going up and I hate that.  Nothing tastes good to me now and it will be very easy to get this weight back down.  I am not tempted to eat junk when I don't feel good.  I don't know if others get more tolerant of foods that taste good but make them feel terrible.  Maybe they just eat what they like and do not feel bad afterwards.

I do know people who have regained and refuse to weigh themselves.  They eat pretty much like they did before surgery and have regained.  My surgeon told me that he feels a 20 pound regain is about normal.  At one point I was ten pounds over my goal.  I do not want to be heavy again and I am willing to work hard, but there are days when I eat the wrong things and I do believe that I malabsorb those extra calories.  Even now.

There is no mystery to regain, eat more calories then your body needs and you start to gain weight.  There is no one bad regain diet.  If you are so worried about dying stop eating crap, personally if I loved riding horses (which I don't) I wouldn't stop because I might fall and die.  What's the point of living if you aren't.  But that is my personal opinion.

I also don't get what the purpose of your original post is.  Why in the heck are you eating crap if you're in cardiac rehab?  Are you anxious to have another heart attack or whatever it was that got you into cardiac rehab to begin with?  I did regain about 20 pounds from my lowest weight, but I've been at the approximate same weight for the past two years.  I don't understand what you're asking.

coolOh no, I hope you are not trying to regain to your pre-op weight. If you keep having heart attacks and stents with the weight off, I can't imagine you not having even more heart attacks and stents if you gain.  Please try to stay away from gluttoness foods which are saturated in fat, sugar, salt hence the culprits for cardiac infraction.  Krispy Creme is not your friend, Duncan Donuts is not your friend!  Refrain from Nathan's hot dogs or any hot dogs.  Please do not get hooked on White Castle's  McDonald's, Checkers, Burger King etc. fries, onion rings and such - not even the chicken rings are good for you.  Please don't do it.    I hope no one shares with you the secret of their gain.  I don't want you to know it.  If you had "the Big One" like Fred Sandford always threatened or James Gandolfini had you wouldn't be able to speak of your cardiac issues over and over and over and over and over again like you do.  You wouldn't have the chance/opportunity to take Plavix.  You'd be dead my friend.  Thank God for what you've got and stop dwelling on what you don't have.  Do what you are supposed to do to keep healthy.  Embrace life and develop a positive perspective for living before your breath is given away to someone who wants to live.  Why the hell would you try to gain weight if you had surgery to lose your excess weight   All Best!

Clearly they are eating either poorly or too much. It doesn't matter the specific food or drink. If a person eats 1,000 apples a day, they will gain. If a person eats and doesn't exercise, they will gain weight. If you are gaining, you're not eating correctly. If you are not gaining, you're probably okay.

I think people want to know the why behind your question, as in why are you asking this? It does come across like you want to brag, which is something you have done before. If that is not your intent here, say so.
