Out of Surgery! (Pictures)

On May 23, I headed in for surgery at 5:30 am at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls. I remember feeling super anxious about the surgery, so luckily the staff allowed me to have a klonipin before surgery. I arrived bright and early at the waiting room and it only took 10 minutes before the called me. I was slightly freaking out, but after my IV in the left hand, I was finally able to relax a bit. I remember the anesthesiologist saying she was going to give me a “****tail” and I probably wouldn’t remember anything from then on. She was 100% right because I don’t recall much of what happened after that. I barely remember recovery. The first day I was so drugged, I only recalled the first night after I woke up in pain.
I had an open RNY that required 50 staples and a nasty drain right above my belly button. Unfortunately I had 3 failed IVs and had to get a PICC line in my right arm that is a small catheter that leads into my right vena cava (in my heart!) That was probably my biggest complication and the PICC line hurt somewhat, but with all the drugs I was on I didn’t really feel it all. I spent four days in the hospital due to the fact that the nurses mistook my sleeping disorder for over sedation which bought me and extra day in lockup.
I have been trying really hard to stay hydrated, although food hasn’t come that easily. I haven’t been hungry at all, but I have been having one protein hot chocolate each morning that has tasted delicious. I have been doing excellent in keeping liquids down and have yet to throw up anything. I have been drinking as much water as I can daily and taking it very easy.
As far as complications I have woken up with severe foot pain from not being able to move throughout the night and I am unable to sleep through the night due to my strong desire to get up and the pain from staying still.
I also have passed out twice, luckily caught by my parents, due to perhaps being overwhelmed or over exhaustion.
I am taking everyday at a time and have yet to weigh myself as I am in a recovery house, but am looking forward to it!
Much Love!

Cassandra

Thank you so much! I am recovering slowly, but am getting stronger everyday. I am quite a bit of pain, but luckly my hydrocone is making me feel better! I hate that binder though!
