4 months out :)
Hey everyone!
I haven't checked in for a few months.. A LOT is happening with me these days... Let's see I just started College this past Wednesday :) I am going for Medical Assistant, I am quite excited !! I have been to see my Dr a few times & my dietitian as well. I recently just lost 44 pounds. I have 22 more to go :) This is the FIRST time I can remember EVER BEING UNDER 200 POUNDS !!! I weigh 196 right now from 240 which is my biggest EVER !!! I am NEVER going back there !!
My husband & I bought kayaks last weekend... OMGoodness that is SOO FUN to stroll around on the lakes :) LOVE IT!!! I have soo many things going on & I am soo excited !! I hope all of you are doing awesome.. Spring is FINALLY here & summer is fast approaching YAY !!! I hope you all have a great week... I'll check in again very soon ...
I'm glad it's working out for you. Trial and error I guess. I'm only 4'-11 so my BMI is through the roof at this weight. SMH
I know a lot of people that feel that way about the band. That's why I'm not even considering it. I'm torn between RNY and the sleeve. Was there anything in particular that helped you decide on RNY?
Hopefully you can take care of all at once ... What are the pro's & con's of both ? I never even heard of the sleeve until I went for the appt with my Dr. That wasn't an option 5 years ago when I had the band. I just know that I seriously WISH I had the bypass a long time ago ... Good luck in what ever you choose, and I am here as a support if you need me ... I am still working towards my goals, but it is a life style change and that takes a life time to master :)
Thanks! I've been weighing pros and cons. The fact that the sleeve is new and they'd actually take part of my stomach away frightens me too. I think they said the sleeve has been around for about 10 yrs so they don't have long term statistics like with the bypass. I know several people that had it and everyone loves it and says they would do it 10 times over if they could. It's also common to hear that the only thing they regret is not doing it sooner. Yet, my family and close friends think I'm crazy and lazy. It's nice to have someone that understands to chat with!
I COMPLETELY understand & I am NOT LAZY ! Crazy? Well yea a little LOL ..... I did it ALL to try to loose the weight & I wasn't even a cane date for ANY weight loss surgery with my weight alone. I only had 50-60 pounds to loose ... BUT ... I had type 2 Diabetes, High Cholesterol & Sleep Apnea .... So without those, I wouldn't have been able to get the surgery either ! I was only able to get the Bypass because we could prove over 5 years that the band didn't work for me and also because my Diabetes got so bad that I was on 2 oral meds & insulin all at once due to my high sugars ..
I know what you're going through as far as family & friends though ... They are jealous and don't understand .. And that's OKAY they don't HAVE TO !! This is YOUR JOURNEY !! You can say what I did when people harped about how it COULD KILL ME ! I said If I DON'T do it it could kill me, so either way I COULD DIE & I am NOT going to live on "could's" ... I would rather DYE TRYING & so I did it and I'm still here :) I have lost a few "friends/co-workers" due to JEALOUSY !! I don't understand but it's okay right? Cause it's their issue NOT MINE !!!
YES!!! Half of them I know for a fact are jealous. Then there are the others that don't even weigh 100 pounds soaking wet and don't understand. I was actually told to simply "eat less" and stop being so greedy then I wouldn't have to worry about this. Don't they understand that the larger your body is, the more energy it needs to function? The funny part is, I don't even eat as much as it would appear I did. It's more so the quality of food I am breaking my addiction to. I started on protein shakes 2x a day. Last night, I was too full to eat dinner. This morning I had a lower calorie one with 3 slices of bacon and am SO ready for lunch. I decided to make lunch my big meal of the day to give myself time to burn it off and just have a shake for diner. I'm actually liking these.
I like that "I'd rather dye trying". So true! I think I will hit them back with that.
