4 years post op - feel like a failure - is there any hope?!
I would also like to join a small private group of those trying to get back on track. From my highest weight of 368, I have maintained a loss of 150 pounds but have been stuck (still over 200 lbs) for 5 years. Unfortunately, I can eat sugar and that has been my downfall. No one starts out to sabotage the surgery, but slowly the old habits come back...I would love to be part of a support group for encouraging others (and myself) that we can have the bodies we deserve! Thanks! Pat in Va Beach
Gina, I would LOVE to be a part of this group. I have gained back 50 pounds of the weight I had originally lost and a lot of it is from grazing. I am currently looking for a good therapist and am considering revision surgery. Last year the surgeon determined my stitches are all loose and he thinks he could endoscopically repair them. But, I struggle DAILY with grazing, eating things I should not, and not getting the exercise I need.
I really really need a good support group! Thanks so much for thinking about starting one! There must be more than a few of us out there who could use the help!

I would def be interested in joining this group as well. I am just over 4 years out and also extremely embarrassed and feel like a total failure. I lost 122 lbs, but put back on 32 and I'm petrified of that number and that it could so easily just keep getting bigger and bigger. I don't know how to control it anymore. I also take all the blame. No one puts the food into my mouth. It's me. I've recently been thinking of finding a therapist as well, but money is so tight right now ... it's hard to put checks on balances on your health or a roof over your head. That is why I came looking here today.. in the hopes that I could find others who are in the same position I am in.

While I totally agree with working on the mental part of the weight loss, I believe it is just as important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Ask yourself? Do I surround myself with people who life me up? Do we have similar goals? Is health a priority for me and for those I chose to surround myself with?
For me, this was key. I am an emotional eater. When I felt down, I would surround myself with other emotional eaters. I decided to change those old "tapes" and join some clubs and make new friends. It has made a world of difference for me.
I wish you luck. You can do it!
Do the 5 Day Pouch Test! It May make you feel empowered, it may not. Give yourself the 5 days and see if it will help you transition to Day6 Which is simply the way we are instructed to eat post-op. Lots of naysayers here but they are the same ones profiting off of adversising All sorTs of bariatric products from vitamins, shakes, bars, to clothing etc.
Please let me know if you need help with this if you decide to do it. In helping you, I will p myself.
All best
I am almost 3 years out. I lost 140 or so pounds. I lost 30 before the surgery, so I know I can do it. Once a long time ago I lost 50 by myself. So I started at 298 and got down to 157 at my lowest. I am now weighing 187-190 lbs. I want to get back to at least 160-165 lbs. I know I can do it. Today is the first day of my new journey. I hope you all can do well also. We can do this. We did it once or twice or three times, why not again and for keeps?!
