Hi everyone. My name is Rosie and I just had the gastric bypass yesterday and am recovering well. I just thought it would be nice to join a support group to get some advice when and if I need it. I'm trying to figure out what is best to eat while I'm on the liquid diet. My surgeon has a list of some food like broth, water, yogurt, cool whip and crystal light. I was wondering if there is anything else I could eat on this stage 1 diet?

If it is allowed when I was in the early stages I whipped fat free cream cheese with fat free cool whip and splenda.  I lived on this actually for a long time it was so good, and fat free cream cheese has the most protein of all the cream cheeses per gram.  And this tastes almost like cheesecake if you squint your eyes real hard and pucker your lips.  lol

Congrats on your surgery and continued success.

What about protein shakes? Protein is very important after RNY.

If possible, always go with what your Dr. Advised or recommended.

Some Dr.s aren't as good at spelling out clear guidelines as others.  If your Dr. has left you with some "un-clear" direction, check out some of the Most Common Post-op Diet Stages" used by leading Centers, such as-
The Mayo Clinic - LINK

or Commonwealth Surgical Assoc. - LINK

The best universal advice I got was- "Only add one new food to your diet each day."

Thart way, if something causes issues it is easy to find the culprit. follow?

Hope these help..

Best Wishes- Dx
