Good luck Kym on your journey of which surgery to choose.  RNY isn't for all folks ..... DS is not for all folks and the sleeve is not for all folks.  Research ... research ...... with any of these surgeries, you have to "work" it .... and be deterrmined to make a life change and keep it under control.  Don't let it slip out of your reach ... if you truly want to enjoy a healthy lifestyle .... DO IT .... I know you can.  I was at the point in my life that this was my ONE chance of a lifetime and I am not going to throw it all away.  Before surgery I was on medications for diabetes, blood pressure, reflux, joint pain, high cholesterol.  Now .... the only meds I am on are my vitamins ..... what a MIRACLE. I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS, unless I eat sugar and high amts of carbs.  When I do it, I make the choice to feel like crap afterwards .... lol ....!  I must add that for the first 1 1/2 I had little to NO sugar and very few unrefined carbs.  I tried to stay completely away from sugar and when I ate carbs I tried to eat healthy carbs .... whole grain pasta, rice, sweet pots, etc.  Fill up on protein (meats) and veggies ... and you have very little room for other things.  I really pushed my protein and still do.  In the beginning it was very difficult to get in high proteins .... however, I did everything possible to meet my protein limits.  I drank tuna, tilapia, salmon (I know that sounds yucky, but when you are hungry, it's WONDERFUL ... lol).  I used the protein shakes also, and really enjoyed the Unjury chicken soup protein.  It was a nice change from the cold protein drinks.  I would make pudding and jello and add the unflavored protein mix with it.  Pls. let me know if I can be of help.
