Many surgeons automatically give scripts for either Prilsec or Nexium for 60-90 days post op to avoid this issue. I just began taking a generic Prilosec. My cardio doc said I need to take an 81mg baby aspirin daily, and my surgeon's nurse said to only do in conjunction with Prilose. Asked my insurance bariatric doc, and she told me that medicare would not pay for it since it's OTC. I then wrote to my PCP, explaining the aspirin and Prilosec combination, and I got a script for a generic Prilsec. Packaged in a script bottle, 20mg strength, and not the identical package as the standard OTC Prilsec that costs near $1 per pill. I got a 3 mo. supply of the generic for $15. DAVE

Aspirin for headaches or body aches, NO. BUT, this for a heart issue. My surgeon said the baby aspirin therapy is far better than the alternative--major heart issues. I did not begin taking until I spoke to my surgeon's primary nurse. She said to ONLY take the 81mg baby aspirin, and to use in in conjunction with Prilosec. The Prilosec coats the pouch as a preventative measure against ulcers. This is the only aspirin product I've used since my RNY May 10, 2006. DAVE
