Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )

I actually saw that on my local news this morning and I thought "you go girl, good for you!"

Bullying can take on many forms.  Access to the internet's "social" web sites makes it so much easier to "bully" people.   I'm glad she had the courage to talk about it publically.

CBS said that the guy actually issued a followup statement that he hoped his comments had inspired her to make a change for the better.  Even good people can be bullies at time - especially when they think they're being "helpful"... but being a bully is never acceptable behavior.

I'm so glad she stood up to him and that so many, many people are rallying behind her - and even the prom queen from the weekend.

Not being a jerk is important.  Speaking the truth is important too.  Even when it's hard to hear but speaking truth IN LOVE defines whether you are truly concerned about the other person or just looking for someway to feel better about yourself.

Thanks for posting this!

His message, in part, read

"I was surprised indeed to witness that your physical condition hasn’t improved for many years," wrote the viewer, who said Livingston was not a "suitable example" for young girls. "I leave you this note hoping that you’ll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle."

This is NOT the verbage of someone trying to be helpful.  This is judgmental and demeaning, period!

Oh so sorry SandieMc49 - I didn't mean to come across as though I was agreeing with him!  Quite the opposite in fact.

I'm glad she stood up to him and that so very, very many people are rallying behind her - and the prom queen from this weekend.

I saw that video and I thought whe handled that very tastefully!  It's nice to see somebody take a stand against bulleying due to ones weight.

There was no way that cowardly person was trying to be helpful.  That note was just a thinny veiled attempt to call her "fatty" basically.
