A BOOK WRITTEN JUST FOR ME ...

ROFL  I am a BIG 'OLD KID' ... WOW... I got an awesome gift from my friends and peers at work this morning LOL ... what a coincidence too... just yesterday my boss asked when was I going to wear my hair long ... and I told her chidingly when my DD gave me back the keys to my hair chest LOL ... what a riot.... I love that woman and my awesome peers and the awesome workplace department where I work...

Yesterday I sat at my desk sporting my short hair and when I went home my DD gave me  back the key to my hair chest that she had hidden from me (how silly LOL I had an extra set of keys all along or could have replenished from any of our three braiding/weaving/beauty supply shops but it was tooooooooooo hot and humid for me to bother LOL and I played along teeeeeee heeeee)

This morning I decided to switch the look from yesterday and today ... for diversity, variety and fun and because I LIKE IT!!! DAT's ME! LOL .... and as soon as I walk in and settle myself I get this awesome book written by Todd Parr JUST FOR ME!

Yup ... little things that make me sooooooooooooooooooooo HAPPY! I love my book ... and at
50 +++ years young we ALL read it and giggled and laughed and enjoyed it just at much as the toddler that it was meant for.... because youth and happiness is not in a number but in the spirit and the heart ...

I love love love my workplace and my peers .... we are an AWESOME TEAM... here I go with my book ...

 

and I am just loving it.... it is all me .... cause I just love my HAIR ... not matter what...

Just a few months back I started making a customized wig for my dear sister and she never lost one strand of hair with her treatment ... BUT we had her back ... my youngest sister and I were BOTH going to shave our heads if she lost her hair and we would all wear wigs made by me .... the option is still there ... just in case ... but in the meantime ... I WILL HAVE FUN ROCKING HAIR ... LIKE I always did ... pre and post OP....

 It's cute I like it.  I love the short but this look I think is cute, the lace front that seems too far forward is the look I don't care for.  This looks really natural.

Those are the ones that are a lighter shade than my darker hairline ... I had to place them before the hairline ... my daughter hates that look too ... I think you two talking about my crazy hairs looks LOL...

 All you have to do is to upload your photo to a server or an online photo hosting site like photobucket.com or you can even upload your photo in the photo area here at oh ... double click on the photo to open it then right click and copy the photo ... then you come into your thread space and right click and paste the photo...

You can also use the image command and copy the url  or full address where you photo is located on a server or hosting program the img command is [img][/img] ....

There are tons of helpful how to's to past photos to forum threads ... you can google or even ask the tech team here on OH ... they offer help with these things all the time...

I wish I could believe that book. I am struggling with severe hair loss. I am having fun with wigs, but I miss the feeling of my natural hair. My hair doesn't define me, but it was part of my personality...... part of who I am. I used to have long straight black (dyed) hair that I loved to whip around. Now, I only have what resembles black spiders web, or very thin threads. I spoke to a hair dresser about cutting it and letting it grow back, and she said that because it is so thin, I would have to cut it extremely short...about an inch in length all over m head. I walked out. I just couldn't do it! It bothers me when I wash my "spider web" (and actually hurts too.) and I know I need to cut it, but going short, (especially THAT short) gives me severe anxiety to the point of feeling sick and I can't breathe!

Sorry for the long post. That book kinda triggered something painful that I am currently dealing with.  

 (((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) sorry Miss_Kitty... I understand so well how you feel... My mom always told us that a woman's hair is her beauty ... back in 1997 I had a very severe case of BOOP (bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia) ... I was hospitalized for the longest time and had to be treated with high dose steroids and continued use of steroids for a long long time after that... I used to have the longest and thickest hair .. and while I toyed around occasionally with wearing wigs since I had been making them and donating them at the time I was really really bothered by the thinning of my own natural hair thanks to those medications especially at the temples... then it stated breaking and I could no longer relax it but I refused to cut it... I used to cry to myself... it was always my best feature... 

Around that same time my very close friend was diagnosed with cancer.. she had to undergo radiation and chemo and did not fare well at all ... she asked me to make her a wig as a close match to what her hair looked like before her hair loss and I made her a wig with 100% imported human hair using the measurements of her own head circumference and a picture she had given me for reference ... she loved that wig ... and we loved her... A group of 5 of us her close friends decided to cut our hair at the time she cut hers because of massive hair loss ... we did not go bald but we all sported a Twiggy-like haircut and we all loved it ... My hair did grow back in a thicker texture and coarser than before .. I never got the length that I once had but I did keep it below my shoulder...

After WLS I did not lose any hair at all but I was needing to relax it more often that would lead to damage ... then one day I cut it ... then I got a pixie ... then my son who is an awesome barber cut it really really short and I loved it .... 

I am off on a tangent here ... as we have the shop and do have to move hair my partner and I are always playing around with hair/weaves/extensions/braids and the like...

Have you considered cutting your hair as suggested and while it grows back in wearing a wig with a hair texture in human hair closer to yours? The lace technique is awesome in that it affords you to part the hair however you want ... it looks natural too .. and it is not heavy at all ....

If you feel comfortable enough and take no offense at my offering at no cost to you I would love to make you an awesome hair system in human hair in your texture/color matching it as close as possible to your preferred look of your hair before ....  feel free to tell me to FOAD for being so bold....

I do want to cut my hair so it doesn't hurt or pull when I wa**** It's just calming my anxiety to actually make that leap to do it. I would wear the wigs on my short hair. I like long straight black hair.,,, about where my bra strap is buckled. ( I am 5' 3") And I prefer to have bangs because I have a round face. Thank you again! Any questions, feel free to ask.

   You look awesome ... now stop fretting about your hair ... go cut it as advised and strut your stuff in your awesome wigs and worry or fret not ... I have no idea what the big hang up is on wearing a wig ... a woman in desperate need for some hair was so happy to see herself in her wig yet FRETTING about what her girlfriends would say because 'they' did not like fake hair ... I simply told her to tell them to then get rid of their dentures and their fake eyelashes and take the implants out their boobs and lose the botox while they were at it ... she ROFL ... she said "well put like that Ms. Martita I am strutting out of here with 'MY' new hair and please let me have another one shade lighter too" ... I told her to go have fun ... she spent so much time fretting about her alopecia and walking around with see through hair that she hated when there are so many diverse things that she could use ... some people opt for hats .. others spend on expensive treatments for life and others who have the face, grace, personality and attitude to strut and OWN their stuff just put on their wig or add their extensions or wear their head bald by choice or happenstance and have a glorious day....

I just came back into the house ... after zumba I went to my store .. and bought back with me not one but FOUR awesome LONG STRAIGHT BLACK WIGS WITH BANGS FOR YOU!!! now these are not hand made and I will set aside time to make you one customized one once you send me your measurements but these are adjustable and made with high quality monofilament microfiber and you can use a hot curling iron up to 400 degrees on them too .... you must wash them and air dry them with baby shampoo only ... do not weight them down with conditioner....

I just got in .... and wore one extremely long one that I chose for myself and barely got into the house without getting drenched in the storm ... I was already still drenched in sweat...
 

I went to my shop after zumba and brought back four of the first item here on my store shelf...
 

I crashed on my daybed in the den and packed you a box and I included four wig stands they are collapsible and I put the pink one together so you'd know how to do it cause they have no instructions... so PM me where you want this box sent... AGAIN THIS IS A GIFT AND IS FREE OF ANY CHARGE I AM NOT ON OH TO MARKET OR SELL ANYTHING AND HAVE NEVER DONE SO AND DO NOT INTEND TO ... GOD HAS BLESSED ME EXCEEDINGLY WELL AND I PAY IT FORWARD IN ANY MEASURE THAT I CAN .... LIKE SHARING THIS GOOFY THREAD AND BEING HONORED TO SEND YOU THESE...
 

You can dampen these with water and braid them damp and let dry and have loose waves when taking out the braids ... braid in thicker braids for loose waves and smaller braids for curlier looks or just wear them poker straight .... here I go with loose waves and packing your box on the day bed in my basement den ... my crash spot...


 

So you are all set ... send me an addy .... I have been hoarding boxes adding stuff to them that I will definitely bring to the post office early this week ... I am stumbling over boxes here .... major downsizing going on....

AGAIN ... your hair is on your head and it is a part of you ... it assists you in feeling good and achieving a look that you want ... it is no different from those other conditions that I listed above LOL ... hair is nothing but a bunch of dead cells ... it does grow back .. and if it doesn't rock it however you like it!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!!

Wow, those wigs are beautiful! I feel more comfortable in my wigs, but I still miss my real hair. My hair is exactly as you described as "see through" because it is so thin and balding. I also was very sick recently. I was in the hospital from March until June. I had a cut on my leg that wouldn't heal. (I am not diabetic, so I don't see why it wouldn't heal) I have Lymphedema in my legs, so any open wound is bad. After a while, I got Cellulitis in my leg that eventually turned to Sepsis. The sepsis was all in my blood stream and therefor all throughout my body. It started attacking my lungs and that's when I was hospitalized with respiratory failure. My doctor told me I am lucky to be alive. I was also on heavy antibiotics. They had to intubate me and eventually had to give me a trachea. (it is out now) They had me heavily sedated and unconscious for the first 3 weeks because I wouldn't stop fighting the doctors when they were intubating me. ( I don't remember any of these 3 weeks.) I also had a feeding tube and lost 100 lbs due to it. From being in bed for so long, I had to learn how to sit up, stand, walk, all over again. When I finaly was able to come home, I had to go back to the hospital again about 3 weeks later with blood clots in my lungs. I spent another 2 1/2 weeks there. During these hospital stays, my hair was falling out gradually....all over my pillow and brush. The doctor said it was natural because I had been so sick. It wasn't until I was finaly home when it started coming out in large clumps, especially when I brushed my hair. I brought the hair and showed my doctor how I am starting to go bald and she said it is due to my being sick twice in a short period of time. My body hadn't had a chance to recover from the Sepsis when I got slammed again with the blood clots. I am taking Vitamins, including vitamin B complex. I asked about Biotine, but she said B complex will cover more of my needs.

I am actually having fun with my wigs because now I can finaly have the style, texture, length, etc. that I couldn't have before. It's just I am always afraid they are going to fall off. And if the size is too tight, it gives me a headache. It's already fallen off once. I was riding home in the front seat of a taxi with the window rolled down. Suddenly, whoosh.....my wig flies off my head and almost into the back seat. I was embarrassed, but thankful t wasn't in a crowd! 

Sorry for this long post. I wanted to share with you what happened and how I lost my hair. Being sick sucks so bad, especially when we are young! (I will be 35 in Sept.) I sent you a PM along with a friend request. I will send you my head measurements a little later, ok. Thank you again for your kindness. You also look great, and I love looking at your wall mural. You are very gifted.
