XPOST OT: To NYC-area people . . .

 (Yes, I know it's only August, but please indulge me . . . )
To all my NYC-area friends, especially the non-Christians: what is there to do in New York City on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? Are most places closed?

My DH and I are having our 15th wedding anniversary the day after Christmas and wanted to do SOMETHING nice - that we could afford - so we purchased a 2-night stay at the Hotel Wales (Upper East Side) through Groupon.

Granted, just walking around the city will be terrific, but if anyone can make any suggestions on things to do or see, please chime in.

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary. Christmas Eve most places are open-in fact the city is very busy with last minute shoppers, and there are a lot of tourists. Christmas Day- many places are closed- for example,  museums are closed. Day after Christmas- everything is open and it is crazy with people everywhere.

In years past, the Jewish Museum has remained open on Christmas Day. :)

And as it gets closer, Broadway will post a list of shows that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but most will have a performance on one or both days. and lots of restaurants will be open too.

I imagine it will be a lovely time to visit. Happy (early) anniversary!
