Other than the  Y M C A..
I don't do Gyms for financial reasons. Everywhere i go everyone is obese. Family Members Included..If i plan to maintain i need to Hang out with others who care what they eat and activities they do.

I ride horses
I Play volleyball
I Pull Weeds (neighbors too)
I walk
I ride Bikes
I go to Nascar races
I Swim

I can't get my family members to do any of these things. They would rather sit around and play video games and drink beer..Thats just a few things I do..I do anything and everything i can to maintain my weight loss. I always go back  remembering what happened to me at 3:30am on Oct 3rd..2004..the " Heart Attack." I had..then the dreaded Open Heart Surgery Oct. 4th 2004..never never again..I never want to go through that again.. so i work to maintain .. maintaining also means hanging around others that stay thin. Remember this is  a mental issue with weight also. Being positive around others is very important too. You'd think after what i went through my kids would learn from it, ..They just don't know all the other wonderful things in life that could make them happy other than eating unhealthy foods..Any Ideas  greatly appreciated..thanks a bunch and Peace \/ Wendy                                 ....p.s. cant sleep i'm rambling..nuff said..& thanks again

Where do you hang out P.O  to maintain your weight loss?

Have you tried looking for Meetup activities in your area?  You'll probably be able to find activities based on movement and health that you can join.

I know that people often post on craigslist looking for activity partners as well.  That could be an option.

WLS has helped you, not your friends and family.  They have the choice to join you or let you go it alone.  They've made their choice - so you make yours.  Go out and play in the sunshine.  It's time to find someone to hang out with.

My hubby is a stick in the mud in his off-time, and he works hard so if he wants to nap on the sofa to some boring star trek re-run, then he won't begrudge me going out and doing my own thing.  I have a friend that I pal around with for active things.  Hubby and I have our own activities, too, but you have to have that outlet to do the things you want or you'll wind up resentful and lonelier in the house  than you were having fun on your own.

I would agree with the poster that mentioned checking meetup.  I can not post the link here because it requires regristration to join which is a violation of the OH terms of service.

Do a google search on meetup and you will find it.  You can search on various activities.  I am a member of a group that takes dog walks.  It allows me to get exercise and meet new people as well as allows my dogs to get exercise and help them with socialization.

I do water aerobics and line dancing.  I have made lots of friends at both activies.  Both keep me healthy and active.  Look for classes in line dancing at your local senior center and don't let senior center deter you.  There are teenagers that come to my classes, as well as ladies in their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and beyond.  We go to nightclubs that feature country western bands and have a wonderful time dancing and socializing.

Try the parks-do you have hiking trails in your area?

Honestly, the healthy people are either at the gym or outside running, biking, golfing, walking or hiking.  They aren't indoors in most cases.

I am very active and have a tough time getting my family moving, but they do some activities with me.  My daughter is taking boot camp/boxing classes with me and my husband will run with me sometimes.  I'm starting "bridal boot camp" tonight, in my home gym for new daughter in law to be....she wants to get in shape for her wedding, so I'm training her.
