Hey Everyone,

I have very exciting news about Dr. Aceves. He has been asked by Johnson & Johnson—and it is the Latin America Division of Johnson & Johnson that we all know about to teach other Bariatric Surgeons from various locations his techniques and they will be watching him for 3 days to see how he does his VGS surgery. They will watch his VGS surgeries for these 3 days learning his techniques and skills. This is very exciting because Johnson & Johnson are the makers of the quality staples that are used when they do “VGS aka The Sleeve" surgery by many doctors.

NOT all doctors use these quality staples. Some are getting the cheaper staples from other countries like China and that is how they can afford to do surgery for less. Some of these  staples are low quality. Please make sure they are the approved Staples if you are having surgery with another doctor-—this is part of educating yourself. Dr. Aceves uses the very best staples along with keeping you for 4 days in his state of the art hospital to make sure that everything is going to be OK before you go home--whi*****ludes 3 leak tests. Please be careful when picking your doctor. I always say you honestly get what you pay for.

This is very exciting news because of all the Doctors that they could have chosen to demonstrate how to do the VGS aka “The Sleeve" he was the one that they asked to teach these Doctors from various locations who are attending this demonstration by Dr. Aceves. This just affirms what I have been saying for the last 4 years about the quality Doctor that Dr. Aceves is and his team of Doctors who assist and help him.

For most of us when we think of Johnson & Johnson, we just think of Band-Aids. They make so many more products other than Band-Aids and house hold products. Johnson & Johnson have a Pharmaceutical Division and they are located in different areas of the world. The Latin America Division of Johnson & Johnson picked Dr. Aceves to demonstrate his skills to the Doctors from various locations. Dr. Aceves's was selected because of his reputation and how highly skilled he is along with all his experience Dr. Aceves has.

I am so very proud to be able to say that Dr. Aceves was the surgeon who did my "VGS aka Sleeve" weight loss surgery. I feel I had the most highly qualified Doctor there is.

If you are trying to make up your mind as to where to have your WLS, this bit of information might help. I wish you great success in your life changing journey. This surgery will change your entire life, for the better and it is something that will last a lifetime.

Hugs,
Suzanne

I'm glad to hear this -- besides a wonderful surgeon he seemed to be a very nice man as well.

somebody told me he was on the cover of Newsweek at some point - did you know this? I looked for it next time I was at the store and didn't find it. maybe it was already the next issue...

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Hi,

It was in May 2012 that he was on Newsweek.  And they come out every week--I am not sure what week it was.  You might be able to find it On Line some place.

He has a page on Facebook and if you belong to Facebook this is the site below that you can see his picture on the cover.  I hope that helps you.

I knew for sometime that he was going to be on Newsweek.  He is such a modest man that he never willing tells people these things. You are so right besides being a great doctor he just is such a nice man as well.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Hi,

I have been where you are right now.  Ask all the questions you want, you can never ask too many.  Then pick the doctor that you feel is the very best for what you want.  It is all about educating yourself and asking lots of questions, and getting some feed back from people.

I wish you nothing but GREAT success in your WLS journey.  I am always out here if you have any questions.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Dr. Aceves did my RNY!  He is indeed a great surgeon and compassionate human being.  I'm so proud of him!
Blessings!

Hi,

Thanks, I agree with you about Dr. Aceves.  I loved your quote, it made me laugh. I know that each day is getting better and better for you.  Hang in there, before you know it, you will be where you want to be.

I am schedule w/Dr. A on August 21st:-)
Very excited. I feel good about the choice but still have those butterflies that I am sure will only get worse until it is done with.
Does Dr. Aceves give you all the post-op diet stuff when you are there??? Like supplement needs and all that good stuff??  I got the info for the pre-op which doesn't seem too bad compared to a lot of other pre-op diets I have heard about.
Very excited plus my mom will fly down to go with me...always good to have your mom with you for anything like this:-) I will feel spoiled!!

Hi,

Yes, they will tell and give you a list of foods that you should be eating the first month.  As far as the supplements, a multivitamin and maybe something for acid reflux.  They give you some Nexium==for acid reflux to take with you when you go home for Acid Reflux--it did NOT work for me, so I now take Prilosec and it works much better for me. Nexium is pretty expensive too.  Your primary care doctor can prescribe the generic Prilosec for you and then your insurance pays for it and it costs less then the Over The Counter Prilosec--my copay is $4.00 for a generic prescription and the OTC is about $17.00 for a month--big difference.  I also have a list that I put together that I will send you.  It is VERY NORMAL to have a bag full of emotions and feeling before you have the surgery.  You are happy and excited and scared all at the same time.  You want the surgery and then you 2ND guess if this is what you should be doing---and you should have the surgery.  It is your tool to allow you to lose all this fat and be a healthy and happy person.

I was flying there and kept asking myself--am I crazy to be doing this, I have never met this doctor and what is the hospital like.  Until you get there and meet some of the people you do have these feelings and emotions.  The ENTIRE staff is gracious, kind, caring and you will love Dr. Aceves and Dr. Compos.  They are amazing people who just happen to be fabulous at what they do.  I am always out here to help and support you and answer any questions that you may have.

I will say this more than once to you.  The 1st month after surgery is the hardest month you will ever do.  You can do it, it is only 30 days and then it starts getting easier.

Enjoy your journey you are about to change your entire life forever.  YEAH!!! Congratulations to you for making the choice to save your own life.

Hugs,
Suzanne
