I think it's OK as long as you've had labs done recently and know all is good.

Check your ferritin and iron labs. I wouldn't recommend it though. I paid too much in vitamins to give mine away and I was a regular giver. Instead I volunterr my time.

Send a friend in your place, for your iron levels can no longer handle it.

I wouldn't risk it .  Please keep in mind that most blood donations are SOLD  overseas ... the red cross  makes tens of  millions from naive people's donations and then flies republican  vice presidential cabdidates and their would -be senator wives (  remember the Doles ? ) around the country on private jets on the profits .

All a corporation being  nonprofit means is that their bottom line at the end of the year is zero . Usually it means astronomical salaries and benefits to the fundraisers and  executives  and  ridiculuous perks U , the charitable minded but fatally naive pay for ...

LOL well now, this thread took an interesting turn.

I was never told it was a don't. As long as you are clean and healthy it should not be a problem. But these are my own local Red Cross rules. Each area might have different policy.

I gave blood for about 2 yrs. then my hematocrit got to low.  I'm working on getting my iron levels back up and I will give again.  Makes me feel good to do it.

I do have my blood drawn about every 4 mos.  My iron is climbing but it is a slow process.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
