Often wondered .."WTH is a NSV?" ... SNIPPETS...
Until a few weeks back I had no idea what NSV stood for ... no idea how much it cost .. what one ate it with or how often it could be had ... totally clueless ... until someone spelled it out on here...
I did not sweat over not knowing the meaning of the abbrev too much .. shoot I am used to not understanding certain terminologies until looking it up ..English being my third language and all ... so when I found out what NSV was thanks to another sista on here I would click on NSV threads on here and give congrats to the poster sharing their awesome moments...
This morning the term came to mind as I sat at my desk clad in a five-year-old dress that I wore at my lowest weight ... I wore it in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and again I am wearing it today after two years sitting in the red's section of my closet ...
IT IS STIFLING HOT TODAY ... so I left home clad like this in my five-year-old red and black dress that I wore at my lowest weight post surgery and am wearing today with the very same awesome fit 5 years and 5 months after...
I grabbed my black blazer to pull over my dress in case I have to go to an impromptu meeting or if I have to wander inter-departmentally ... but in the interim ... I sat at my desk on break enjoying a delicious gala apple looking like this...
with my blazer on standby...
as I pondered NSV ... I thought OMG I have my digital empowerment journal ... let me go in there and grab the occasions where I wore this very same dress for a comparison collage to tell the story of my VERY OWN NSV (NON-SCALE VICTORY).... wearing the same dress for the same fit... seamlessly ... in maintenance for life ... and I came up with this...
NSV Comparison Collage ... before and after..after..after and TODAY....
and I had an awesome NSV yesterday evening too ... as I went walking along the beach clad like this ... I recalled wearing this very same dress a year ago as I sat by my pool for a picture .. same fit .. one year later...
and of course to keep it WLS friendly I made my empowerment collage for my digital journal "A picture a day keeps the pounds and the inches away" ... as I picture and record my walk away from morbid obesity one day at a time .. one choice at a time ..... I am embracing joy and making it happen to me!!!
When I look in my empowerment journal ... words... sayings... pictures... experiences and all life's joys and special and not so special moments all blend in and I KNOW I have AWESOME NSV's!!!! Won't you share yours with me???

I don't think anything relating to your size would be a Non-scale victory. Thats still about the scale. To me a NSV would be walking by a pack of Girl Scout hawking thier cookies and telling them to take their fattening ass cookies and shove them where....... Oh wait that would probably be more a Get Outta Jail Free on Bond victory. lol
I love the dress, you look gorgeous as always!

NSV stands for No Scale victory (for me!) but for you wowee!!! I am humbled and I must admit a bit ashamed of myself because I have gained almost 30# back and nothing I seem to do lately seems to be working!!!
Martita-You are inspiring and I want you to know how much your pictures, words, sayings and experiences all mean.. It seems to me that God has sent you to be a "messenger" if you will to those who believe they can get healthy and that there is hope for them - whether it be through WLS or lifestyle changes or a bit of both!
You look awesome! Such hard work on your part and you share and you inspire and through your visuals people can see what they can become if they work for it.
I am at a bump in my road to health right now. I am not sure how to proceed but I thank you for your posts-I enjoy them and they make me see that I too can be healthy and even a good weight myself someday (Soon I hope!) Love you and keep up your pictures, thoughts, etc. They do make differences in so many others on OH lives (especially mine!) Molly

Awwwwww Molly ... you encourage a goofy sista ... Don't be ashamed of yourself sista... regain can happen to any of us for whatever reason sometime even without rhyme or rhythm ....... check your sodium intake as well as refined carbs and also your fluid intake ... those culprits can make the scale go up ... I keep myself hydrated and watch carbs like a hawk ... I have to have them because I run but I stick to complex carbs ... I know you have a handle on this and I am sure that together we can do this ... (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) Sistas on the journey!!!!
I only learned what it meant because I saw a post explaining it. You are truely and inspiration to all of us. I am new to the journey well kind of new still 1 month I am taking a lot of pictures as well. I refuse to go back to the way i was and if it means staying on OH and reading all of the before and after stories and especially what you Heidi, Kim, and Leslie and several others that I can not think of write that what I will do.

Thank you Tulips ... this morning I had an awesome 5:00 a.m. breakfast with our OH sista MSW will not Settle ... we usually meet up for early morning breakfast when she is in my area and this morning we had that pleasure... so my journal entry today is looking like this... LOL ... my DH was there with us...
You are Marty as always beautiful inside and out!!! (Now and at your heaviest you have always been a beautiful person!!!) I love it that you can go into your closet, and go into the 'reds' as you call it (I love that btw!!) and pull out a 5 year old dress and have it fit now the same way it did when you tried it on. Fantastic that must feel awesome!!!
For me lately, the scale and I have been fighting a losing battle. Once again, my body is 'changing' and weight/body shape has 'shifted' around again if you will. I'm done fighting with the scale. I don't care what it says now. I have bounced around between 150 and 160 for a while now and my body is more comfortable right now at 160. I'm comfortable with that because somewhere along the line, I grew a bootie! Seriously! Here is the latest picture of me trying on a fabulous outfit down at a boutique in Plymouth, MA:
First I was hesitant to try on anything WHITE it shows everything but sure enough, it looked fantastic! And I have a pretty nice butt too! :) LOL I still don't know when THAT happened!
Anyway, keep on posting your pictures I just love your digital journal it inspires me (and others) so much!! Thanks Marty!!
I am looking forward to sporting (One) of my new bikinis today at the beach with my fiancee Chris. Pictures to follow!!!
Have a great day everyone!
