I took a long look at the painting she is looking at, Rubens's "Rape of the Sabine Women" and it really is astonishing that society now views as disgusting what was once viewed as desirable and voluptuous and a sign of wealth.

SORRY! Got the name of the painting wrong! It's "Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus>' God, my art history teacher would shoot me, but I doubt he's still alive.

I love this painting. It amazes me that what I am was once considered beautiful. But even if you look back to the 1950's. Marylin Monroe was not a size zero!

(laughs) I don't think there een WAS a "size zero" until about 20 years ago. And Marilyn was, I believe, either a 12 or 14.
