Bayer Aspirin...Tearing my Skin

I've been back on bayer aspirin 81 mg. per day for a daily regimine for my heart. In the last 6 months my skin all over has been tearing when i wash myself. Not too mention the deep large purple bruises i've been getting on my stomach and arms..All this time i thought i was just being clumsy.in my picture in my profile in my bathing suit I left out showing my legs because of a large bruise on my leg. Well got that figured out its caused from the aspirin ..I thought i was in the safe range when taking the aspirin...i also been getting some pulling in my neck when i turn certain ways.feels like my arteries are being pulled.

I'll be stopping that regimine for sure. Wanted to post this for those who are wondering what Bayer aspirin does to us P O ...I remember asking my surgeons nurse if it was ok to take Bayer aspirin P O she said it was ok.. well .. whats done is done..I use to see Posts a while back that some were saying its ok and some were saying not to take aspirin P O..I say DON'T Take it!!! My surgeon said no aspirin or ibuprofen ever. If my arthritis kicks up again, he will prescribe something. It is my understanding that aspirin and ibuprofen can cause ulcers on post op patients.

NSAIDS increase our risk of ulcers after RNY, yes. But if I had to choose between the relatively small risk of taking a low dose of aspirin to protect my heart and the risk of not taking the aspirin and having a heart attack, I'd go with the aspirin. I'd rather have an ulcer than a heart attack.

Now, if I have a headache, I'd rather have the headache than an ulcer, so I don't take NSAIDS then. But an ulcer or a heart attack? Yeah, I'd pick the ulcer, for sure.

Aspirin, vitamin E and other things act as blood thinners, which make you more prone to bruising. I hadn't taken any aspirin since surgery, but I was taking vitamin E. My PCP said that would likely help with bruising I've noted since I ran out of vitamin K. My surgeon's nurse said taking extra vitamin K would help with bruising. I rarely seen any "spontaneous bruising" like I saw prior to the extra vitamin K, but I still see bruises with more than minor trauma occurs. I tripped the other day on the corner of the cradenza in my dining room, and barely caught myself before I hit the floor. In the process, my left forearm broke the brunt of my fall, and I have a 50 cent piece sized bruise that is almost healed. The bruise began going away rapidly when I began the two doses of 300mcg of K daily. K will likely help you too, as it helps to coagulate the blood. DAVE

How recently have you had your vitamin levels checked? While aspirin is a blood-thinner, the 91 mg ones shouldn't be doing that to your skin. I bet you have some vitamin deficiencies as well. Have them check Vitamin K especially.

good plan MsBatt, been over 1 yr that I've had any blood work done. Have to admit, i was freaking out when i saw my skin on my face peeling off just under my right eye when i was washing it with soap and water with a wash cloth...How many Mg. of Vitamin K? yea i'd rather have any other illnesses than a heart attack, speaking from experience. :( I wouldnt wish a heart attack on my worst enemy...and i dont have any..

Try vitamin C ( in large doses if U can remember ) and vitamin K occasionally . There are two types of vitamin K and they can mess with Ur heart rhythm ..so it might be safer to take a small doese orally occasionally and use vit K containing skin cream or gel to heal up the bruising U already have .

The vit C is also a very effective and safe blood thinner and immune system booster with practically no side effects or long term negatives . Please read Linus Pauling's Nobel-prize winning 25 year multi-thousand patient study on the health promoting and longevity boosting effects of high dosage vitamin C. It really does protect against heart attacks and strokes and acts as ablood thinner much like aspirin does.

I just scratched my back with one of those long handled back scratchers and used a little pressure. my skin peeled , had to stop. I hope its not too late to repair this...
