I have been doing very well following surgery. Last week a had a bad reaction to a multivitamin combined with dinner. I have never puked so bad in my life. It just kept going and going. Since then, I am getting waves of nausea through out the day and definitely while/after I eat. I also struggle with major heartburn which is bothering me right now. I called the doctor and they gave me an anti nausea patch and then said to take the oral anti nausea medicine as needed. I don't know that I notice any difference. I just finished a wave of nausea but now I have super major heart burn. I am very confused and it is really tough to feel at work. Any suggestions? I am struggling to stay hydrated and not get overly anxious about it. I am so bummed out.

Are you taking an acid blocker?  That might help.

But if you continue to have severe nausea and the anti nausea meds aren't helping, you should call your surgeon back.  Nausea does not normally happen for no reason, and if it continues, your surgeon needs to start trying to figure out what's wrong.

I spoke to the nurse today and I will call her back tomorrow if I still feel this way. It didn't occur to untill tonight when I had such bad heartburn that it might be related. I also wonder about anxiety.. I wonder if I am anxious about it which makes me even more nauseous ? I am on a prescription for heart burn and it normally helps if I take it religiously. My stomach hurts ss we write. I am grunge to SIP on milk and tums.

Nausea often indicates that you are becoming dehydrated, and you mention you're having problems getting your fluids.  You might need to get an IV refill, because once you get to the point of nausea and vomitting, you can't take in enough orally to get rehydrated.

Do the pinch test on the back of your hand:  pinch a fold of skin and if it stays up in a little fold, then you're dehydrated.  See your doctor if that happens.  You can get really ill, faint, fall down and hurt yourself.

Yes, you are so right. I have wondered if that was happening. I had a horrible headache all day and night but i feel a little better today. I drank diluted juice all day yesterday and got in a good 32 oz. I didn't get much else but at least I got that! I can't tell if this is from heart burn, stress induced, or a mental block because of how sick I was last week. It is confusing and I just want it to stop!

What do you think is the best acid blocker?

Thank you so much for your support. I still don't know why I'm feeling sick to my stomach but I am expecting it to pass soon.
