Has anyone ever tried fundraising to assist with surgery costs??
Its a sign when you hear bad and bad and bad on some doctors.
and NOT all doctors have bad feedback. ?? Of course, not all doctors have bad feedback.

Many who have bariatric surgery have it so that they can *continue* to live. It's not always about bad eating. There are medications that will mess with your metabolism and make you gain weight.
One of those medications...prednisone...is the reason I went from 200 (difficult but doable without surgery) to 405.
I had my DS 2/25/2009, lost 245 pounds.
I still need the prednisone, but thankfully, only for the most severe flare-ups. There is other non-steroidal maintenance medication I can take now, that works to minimize the symptoms of my illness.
One final surgery...excess skin removal (infections are a problem), and I will be ready to try to get off disability and have a life again.
BTW...the weight was not the cause of my disability. The treatment for my illness caused the malignant weight issue.
In Texas they do fundraisers for everything- funerals, weddings, sweet 16's, overdue electric bill... No, I'm not making this up. I have had requests to buy bbq plates for these kinds of things.
Just the way I grew up, I find it in very poor taste. I would expect people would probably talk about me for the rest of my life. Just not worth the humiliation. I would do it myself or from help from immediately family- or not do it at all.
