Had a lap RNY (revision fm VBG) on Mar 20.  Still sore and having to take it easy.  I get weak several times a day and have to lie down.  Having issues with heart burn/indigestion.  Had to take a Nexium last night to get any relief.  Pushed myself to get in over 40 grams of protein yesterday & I think it was too much too soon.  Belched ALL day long and my stomach was painful & burned like reflux or something.  Feels much better this morning.  Can't seem to get the burning sensation to go away that my mind tells me is hunger.  The more I try to sip, the more I seem to irritate it.  But I don't want to get dehyrated, either.   I sip on Syntrax Nectar mixed with 8 oz skim milk (if I get that all down before it's gross), water, and decaf coffee.  Yesterday, I also had 1/4 of cream of chicken soup at lunch time and 1/4 cup FF SF chocolate pudding in the evening.  I'm supposed to be on full liquids...what am I doing wrong?  Too much, too soon???

I have the same burning sensation, only after I eat though,
i've just been taking prilosec in the am.  your getting way more than I am, I drink 1/4 cup of protein shake made w skim milk for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (1 shake lasts me all day), then yesterday I had 1/8 cup yogurt at 10am, and 1/8 cup SF jello at like 7pm. If I eat any more than that I feel horrible.

I bought these little tiny tupperwares at the dollar store, they hold 2oz (1/8 cup approx) and I measure everything out in them. 1 yogurt fills 2 containers, same with 1 jello. that way I don' over eat, my Dr said I can have 6oz of straight liquid (broth, protein, water) in an hour, or 2oz of jello, yogurt, or whatever in a hour.

If someone can grab you some sort of tupperware to measure/store stuff in it might help. The ones at dollar tree are 8/$1, they hold 2.6 oz

I'm going to back off some today.  Maybe I'm taking in too much as well as taking it too quickly.  Thanks for the info.  Finally stepped on the scale this morning and am only down 2 lbs from pre-op weight.  Sure hope this works for me.

You'll both get there.... your body is taking time healing, not to worry, it will work for you.

Some people become lactose intolerant after surgery...maybe try mixing your Nectar with water?  I never use milk in the fruit flavoured Nectars; might make a difference on the hearburn.

Good luck!

I'm 5 days post-op and am still 4 pounds over my pre-op weight. And thats down from a total of 6 pounds. From what I hear its all normal so I am just focusing on my recovery.

Burning is not good. From what I understand, stomach acid goes into overdrive after surgery. Talk to your doctor about increasing your nexium. It really helped me get over the nausia.

Wow, that is a lot of dairy.  I am almost three years out and don't drink milk or coffee.  They both upset me.  Syntrax is awesome.  I still drink it twice a day but mix it with water.  So, avoid cream based soups, milk...and in a week or so, introduce greek yougert.

and, your stomach is still healing.  I was on water and protein with water for 1 week after surgery.

Wishing you the best,
