iris, if we could just eat less without surgical help none of us would be here

WLS is more than just eating less- there are physiologjcal changes (which vary by surgery) that make you less hungry or make you feel full sooner.

its a tool to help lose weight along with portion control and exercise...not magic

I haven't had surgery yet, but there are many experienced people here who can tell you how its so much more than just eating less

Starting to think about surgery. I'm afraid that it means eating less, and if I could "just eat less" then I probably wouldn't be sitting here thinking about the surgery. Any and all suggestions, ideas for support, etc. are appreciated.
Hi,

You have a serious disease and it is called obesity.  If a doctor told you that you need surgery to save your life you wouldn't think twice about having it for any other disease that you had--so why not have it for obesity?  If we could eat less then we would NOT be fat right now and have healthy problems.  Having weight loss surgery take a lot more courage than it does to continue to do what you are doing and that is giving days away of your life everyday your remain fat.

I want you to put yourself first for the first time in your life and consider what are the next steps to saving your own life.  WLS is  a tool that will ALLOW you to eat less for the rest of your life.  I NEVER feel hungry--can you image what it feels like to NEVER feel hungry.  When you have WLS it requires you to make a lifestyle change and that means eating small amounts of food.  I never think I am on a diet because I am not. WLS means making healthy choice when it comes to what you are putting in your body.  It means you will need to start doing some kind of exercise too.  This is ALL about you and no one else.

I never feel deprived.  I have lost 105 pounds and have kept it off.  You can do this too.  I am a regular person who had bad habits just like you.  I just wanted to lose weight bad enough to make it work for me.  Once the weight starts coming off it motivates you to keep going.  it feels good to feel good again.

So start asking questions, I had sleeve surgery and I HIGHLY recommend this surgery.  I get all the nutritional value from my food that I eat.  Not all weight loss surgery gives you this.

So feel free to start asking me questions.  I am here for you.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Hi BJ,

Yeah for you!  Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have.  It is really normal to be excited and scared before you have the surgery.  You will have a bag full of feelings, and I am here ever step of the way with you.

Hugs, and you are going to do some amazing things in the next few months.
