A challenge for the "Newbie"

Hi,

What are you waiting for?  If you are someone who is sitting on this board and you are reading ALL the postings and not saying anything—this is quite normal.  I did that for a few months too.  I was trying to figure a few things out about weight loss surgery. Having WLS is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make.  What I learned once I started asking questions was; there is an enormous amount of helpful people on this board that helped me along the way and answers my hundreds of questions I had. You can NEVER ask too many questions OK.  Two of them  were my mentors and I received incredible amount of support from them and I am so blessed and thankful for their help.

OK here is my challenge for you “newbies" Please don’t give another day of your life away being fat and unhealthy.  Start asking questions. Start the process of educating yourself and maybe set a date to have WLS. I had sleeve weight loss surgery 3 ½ years ago by Dr. Aceves and lost 105 pounds and have kept it off. Nina Dr. Aceves's Patient Coordinator is fabulous and will help you set a date and answer so many of your questions about the cost.  I have extreme amount of experience and I am more than willing to answer any and all of your questions.  So get off the fence and start asking things that you are curious about.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Hi,

Awww this is great.  We will make a good team with all our experience.  Thanks, I know very little about RNY so you will be very helpful.

You are so right the first post is always the hardest.  You can never say anything wrong when it comes to educating yourself.  We will answer you honestly and we will talk about anything you want to know about.

Thanks so much for your reply==you look fabulous.

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I just found this amazing site today.
I wish I had found it a bit sooner.
I had my RNY surgery a week and 4 days ago, I just had it on 2/27/12.

There are a lot of things that I have questions on, but I will lurke a bit to see if they've already been asked/addressed.

1.st thing I do want to say - I never had a clue as to how to start eating POST OP. All my planning and doing' was preop. I mean I did read, attend support groups, have friends who've had the surgery - so I listened and took extensive notes. But to actually be on the other end... it's weird.

I'm down 29 lbs!

I am too a newbie on here.....and shy about posting.  I have learned so much from everyone...so thanks to everyone.

My first appointment with the surgeon is on Monday the 12th.  I have already had my insurance verified and I'm not required to have a supervised diet so I am praying for a speedy approval.

Suzanne congrats on your weight loss and thanks for your post today without it I would just be lurking still...lol

Hi Tracy,

Welcome to the world of weight loss.  I am so very proud of you for posting for the first time.  I know what it is like to be starting this journey and having a bucket full of questions and emotions. I was scared, and excited all at the same time.  I was 2nd guessing myself wondering if I had done the right thing--and trust me it was the best choice I have ever made.

I am always out here any time you need me for anything.  Have tons of questions you want to ask or you are scared. You are doing something that is going to add years to your life.

Hugs,
Suzanne
