Discouraged...
Over the past 16 months I have gained exactly 30 pounds back, I feel like an extreme failure!! I dont know where to restart or where to turn! Im so down about it all that I cant seem to focus to come up with a plan, Just really need some words of wisdom and encouragement because the cycle needs to STOP today!! I dont want to slip any further. I had the RNY in Novemner of 2009.

The first thing you want to do is forgive yourself and stop beating yourself up. What you'll soon discover is that it's so much easier to lose than it was pre-op. It's so easy to get into maintenance and enjoy a little of this or that, and winter snuggling does nothing to help with exercise either. Dig out and re-open the new patient documentation and start from scratch and find a good place to sink yourself into, then find and plan some ways to enjoy the warm weather approaching. This is your year to get back to where you want to be.

You might want to see about therapy with an eating disorders specialist- it can help a lot with retraining ourselves and our brains. Also check out the Back On Track Together group here on OH under the Community> Groups heading.

Hi there,my weight crept up, so I went to Weigh****chers. having the limit of points really helps me to focus on my eating and tracking what I eat online (for me, you can also journal or quick track, whatever works best for you.)
I had rny too. The honeymoon is over for me after 2 years and it is back to knuckling down for me. Good luck to you, glad you are reaching out for help.

I rarely post on the main board but decided to put in my 2 cents. I had RNY in 9/04 I was maintaining at 180 (size 9 - due to exercize I believe) and then got pregnant TWICE. I was 70 pounds up and last month just about when I was going to give up completely, I said you know what Vanessa, you are still down 160 pounds from your highest so don't throw it away. I joined WW LOVE IT! and have lost 11 pounds since starting. Been walking 45 minutes a day, started taking all my vitamins again, I never stopped drinking a gallon of water a day so I just continue that. And I feel great already. Now if I could just kick the pesky smoking habit I would be doing even better!
So my advice, pack the pity party away believe in yourself and know that your NOT failure. If you are diligent with protein, water, exercize and minimal snacking it can be done. I kept trying to find the magic answer but there isn't one, I have finally realized there is no cure, you either eat healthy and exercize or feel bad for yourself, eat and gain.
I wish you the best, and believe me I know its not easy but it all really comes down to lifestyle change. Head up you CAN do this!
