Great work on your part, especially considering your health problems! And there's no reason getting married should change your course of actions or results.

What I do-
Plan the night before for the next day what I am eating and what my exercise will be.
Weigh myself daily and immediately put in corrections if it deviates by more than a couple of
        pounds.
Avoid simple carbs like the plague except for a small treat now and then.
    Protein protein protein.
Run five miles a time 5 days a week.
Hold myself accountable to my husband and my best friend- they check in how I'm doing.
Make sure I follow through no matter what I feel like or what my head is telling me.

Hi Heidi
Yes I Know, I have bad days as much as good days.I still have the same attitude about my wls...I was  wondering if someone would respond , telling me  they feel they keep on track by coming to OH every single day , I  don't have time to come to OH everyday like i use to early P.O. guess I'm stronger than even 'I' thought I was.. :)

OMG,  forgot to mention one important thing that's kept me on track. I Don't eat late at night. thats when I have the 5 pound regain.  changed that behavior  when i put 2 and 2 together that was causing my regain..

I don't use O H  for support to keep on track..I applaud those that it works for them staying on track

I try and get on OH every day, but my computer was down for 3 months.  I eat low carb but full fat.  I walk or ride my bike when I can.  I am truly grateful for my surgery, so I do what I can to make it work.  maria

Really, the only rules I am hard and fast about are sugar free and gluten free.  Getting back into riding my bike every day but before that not much exercise.  Always lots of protein and fluids.  100 grams or more, usually much more, of protein and 100 oz or more of fluids, usually closer to a gallon.
I don'****ch fat at all.  If I'm going to have something I usually have full fat sour cream, real butter, etc.  I don't really watch carbs except that most of my carbs are from vegetables and dairy.  I usually eat every 2 or 3 hours to keep my metabolism going.  I'm not really hungry during the day so it seems I do most of my eating in the evening, after dinner.  I weigh myself daily.  So far I have had a gain of about 3 or 4 lbs but still below where I want to be so not too worried about it.  That gain has been since about Sept.  The plan so far is to have an upper limit of where I would want my weight to be and not go over that.  The problem is I haven't quite figured out what I want that limit to be.  I don't feel I look healthy at my present weight so I guess I am waiting until I get more positive feedback about where I am at and then I will work at staying there.

almost 4 years post op.
my rules:
-very low carbs, low sugar, 5-7 meals a day
-fat keeps my body happy. (bacon, half and half, butter), but I don't eat a lot - till dump on too much fat)
- nuts and nut butter, seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, etc)
- exercise - moderate - not too much not too little (too much and my sugar crashes - not worth)
- weigh maybe 1 x a week... maybe not.
- check by clothes size... and the fat on my back (when it shows - I get back on my diet)
- no alcohol (that what caused my weight gain)
- cooking healthy foods..
