How do you nurture yourself? How do you have FUN?
I love to cook, and find it relaxing. And surfing the net for recipes, as well as reading cookbooks. I read recipes like some people read fiction. I have to laugh, I swear I have more food in my pantry and fridge now than I ever did pre-surgery. I guess because I did a lot of fast food then. These days "fast food" means something I made, put into individual servings, and stored in the fridge or freezer, haha!
I also find massages and pedi's fun. One time a friend and I went to the local spa for the whole day. We had our massages at 11, then went out by the pool, laid out on lounges under an umbrella, ordered lunch (delivered poolside), swam when we felt like it, went into the hot tub when we felt like it. Now that was FUN! We decided to do that a few times a year, but then winter came and it's been too cold. As soon as it gets warm enough, I'll be proposing another spa day!
I enjoy reading, movies, playing with the cat, who is a constant source of amusement even at 12 years old. Being on the internet in general, browsing around & seeing what I can find. (The TV is usually on, sort of background noise.)
A few months ago I signed up for a painting class with the local adult education, and I really enjoy that! I also signed up for beginner's yoga and discovered that it wasn't for me. So this semester I signed up for zumba, a version for folks who aren't 100%, which might work for my poor joints. We'll see if I enjoy that. I would really like to find a form of exercise that would be fun.

Taking long walks with hubby and our dog and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery that surrounds our home; massages, facials, manis, pedis; trying new, healthy recipes; exercising; spending quality time laughing with family and friends; planning our next trip; remembering all of the blessings so far in life!
I havent had surgery yet, but I was just thinking to myself today... what will I replace food with, because I was raised around food in a manner in which it is "fun" its fun to eat at parties, family get togethers, to celebrate anything big or small, to please or make others happy rather it is friends or family. Its like everything I was raised around always surrounded food. So anyway, I was thinking, what am i going to do when I physically cant do that anymore.
So I figured I'd be spending a whole lot more time visting friends with a bottle of water in my hands and playing a **** load of XBOX games LOL.
This is a great topic, I've been blowing my mind up with thoughts about it.

You'll prob laugh at this, but one of the ways I still have fun even post op is baking cookies. I can't eat them anymore, so the challenge is having a "taster" available when I bake, but I just love the feeling of baking. It's my go to stress reliever too.
But other fun things? It's hard to draw the line isn't it between fun and satisfying. Like I love to work in the yard, but don't consider it necessarily fun. I do though get a special joy in my heart when I am outside doing yard work as I remember the many years I couldn't even get up from the couch. When I think that way, even taking the garbage out to the street is "fun".
I guess the purest fun for me though now is the time I can spend with my hubby, daughters, son-in-law and brand new grandson. Just can't think of anything better - no matter what we are doing. And yep, I do the manicure, hair stuff too when I can afford it - unfortunately that is not to often.
Saving the best for last - the thing that is the most fun to me ever is my yearly trip to the coast with my hubby in early spring. Last year was our 20th year. We always stay at the same place and do the same things but it is my favorite thing ever. It's coming up for us this year the first week in April and just thinking of it makes me smile. No kids, no laptops, no nothing except each other. It's heaven. And so *that* is was really keeps my batteries charged throughout the year.
Good question! And Heidi, did you ever get your perfect "heart" swan picture? I've been off OH for awhile.

NO I haven't 50K worth of pics on my camera you would think I could get that one picture, given most of that 50,000 is of swans. lol lol I got a few you can sort of see a heart shape in but not that perfect shot I always wanted. Ugghhh you had to remind me. lol
Hope you have hubby have fun, sounds heavenly, me and my bf usually got to the Pocono's a few times a year just to relax but since he is looking for a new job I doubt that is going to happen for a way, so you need to have extra fun for me too!!!
Oh and one more thing, I love to bake cookies also and I rarely eat any either, but I like to make fancy desserts and my bf isn't into that sort of thing but he loves cookies. He swore me off from making anymore though, he said everyone is getting too fat, except me. lol
