OT: Large belly
Hi Katie, thanks for posting. Not sure how your finances are but if you can afford it maybe check into a mechanic moving back the seat for you. If its too far back and cant reach pedals there are peddal extensions. If not a possiblity I know Japense cars are smaller so try older american cars good luck
I was reaching that point myself, before I had my DS. Seriously look into pedal extensions---they can be fitted to whatever car you currently have, and dan be removed later when you no longer need them.
When I was about 3 months post-op, I got in my car one day and thought "WTF? Who's moved my seat?" Finally I realized I'd lost enough butt-fat that I was actually sitting all the way back IN the seat. That was a GREAT feeling!
Which form of WLS are you planning to have? Given your BMI, I really hope you're at least researched the DS/duodenal switch. The DS has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats for patients of any size, but especially so for those of us with a BMI of 50 or greater. And you live in CA, where two of the world's best DS surgeons are---Drs. Rabkin and Keshishian. And even if your insurance says they don't cover the DS, you can make them---denial of the DS has been overturned in CA so many times that most insurance companies just give up when a patient appeals.
