Does anyone else get random, urgent diarehha?

Some times I get almost no warning. It's very scary. It feels like I can never know when it's going to hit. It only happens like once a month or so but when it does, I sometimes can't make it to the bathroom fast enough.

hat's a HUGE problem! So far, it's been at a time I could take the time to address my needs after my accident but I always worry I will be somewhere that I can't just leave all of a sudden because I had an accident. I had this sort of thing like once every other year before surgery but it is happening much more often now. It's super embarrassing and I worry it will begin to make me fear going out in public.

Please offer any experience or advice as to what is going on. Is this the dumping thing? I feel totally fine, then super urgent need to go, when I am done going, I am totally fine again. It's weird.

Please help me know what this is and what I can do to not let it change my life.

Thanks!

On my way!!!!!!

Do you still have your gall bladder?

I think when people talk about dumping they are talking about more than having an urgent need to go to the bathroom.  From the way dumping has been explained to me it's more of a shortness of breath, sweating, increased heart rate, and going to the bathroom.

When I first had my gall bladder removed I noticed that if I ate too much food I would have to go to the bathroom right after lunch or dinner and sometimes it was really rather urgent. Now that I have a smaller stomach with the sleeve this can trigger even more quickly because I get fuller faster.

Does this happen to you right after you eat?  About 30min to an hour?
Is it with a certain type of food?  Does it happen more when you have dairy?

Do you eat a lot of things with sugar alcohols?  They can do a number on you.

I did preop but not so much now, I think the increased protein binds me up.

IT will stop around 10 months out i suspect, or it did for me,   and a long stall also ended at the same time.

All diarrhea is random and urgent.

It would be nice if I could get a stomach cramp and say, "I'm going to have diarrhea in exactly 6 hours" so I could plan my day accordingly.

I echo that statement.

Because.

My gut likes to tease.

Never happened until I had my gall bladder out. The extra bile goes into the bowel and causes the incontinence and also a foul odor. Dr. gave me a name for this but don't remember it. Lots of fiber helps but he also has me use imodium regularly. I started out taking half in the morning and half at night. It didn't quite work enough so went to one in the morning and one at night. My movements are now normal, with no incontinence since then. Hope this helps.

I have Ulcerative Colitis and that is one of the many problems associated with this dreadful disease.  For many years I suffered with diarrhea, and when it hits you , you gotta go.  It wasn't diarrhea all the time , only occasional. It was hard to go eat out because it look like my food would go straight through me.  I always thought it was anxiety and my nerves.
