Shopping on the skinny side of the closet!

Hello fellow sojourners,

This diet monitoring and calorie counting isn't all bad...because I went shopping in the 'skinny side' of the closet for a pair of jeans and guess what?  They freaking fit!  (happy dance ensued!)   You know after being 9.5 years out from RNY; I never thought I would have to count calories and pay attention but I realized that was just a myth and not a reality.

When I had surgery my surgeon didn't have much experience with 'long term' outcomes he was an exceptional surgeon and he had a wonderful bedside manner.  But, what he lacked was the data that is now available to the industry.  The surgery is a short-cut (help, aid, tool) but it doesn't replace the mental commitment it takes to go the distance on this journey.

So when I found myself having regained 110 lbs after losing 385 --I was feeling really bummed and I just didn't want to admit that I a responsibility to keep going.  Keep journeying!  So...I woke up on November 9th and said "enough is enough" - and I have been counting calories every since.  Down (-30) lbs and feeling very confident again.

That brings me back into the closet.  I was looking for pants and I saw a pair of jeans on the 'skinny' side and thought - "I wonder?" I pulled them off the hanger and put them on and wow not only did they fit they REALLY fit (come on you know what I mean...) ...Yes, I turned to see how my butt looked (don't say you've never done it!!!!) - so there I was with my 'skinny' jeans on and I was having a party of one!

Good times on the journey...join the celebration !!!!

That is an awesome success story!  I guess you had to learn a lot of things the hard way since your surgery was done before there was so much mainstream knowledge.

Keep on keeping on!

Way to go Bo!
I have just resently learned to that the skinny side of the closet can be a tool to motive. in a POSTIVE way.
When something fits right and COMFORTABLE for me it makes my day go better. Just this week I was given some advice on shirts. I was wearing MOMOs basicly. and someone who cares showed me that i was really not hide anything and that a form fiting long shirt looks and fells better. the advice came from a GUY I will add. Because us guys care how we look too. And i really really feeling better about myself. I know this is a little rambling but I sure you get the idea. Thanks for sharing
