New year - new you?

I have to admit this year 2012 came on me pretty fast.  I wasn't really ready for it.  The only thing I was ready for was the Holidays.  But, wow a new year means we have to reset our goals, plan for the future, and even consider what we did (or didn't) accomplish in in 2011.

Last year was a banner year for me because I was able to truly focus my personal time into my goals.  My primary goal has been education.  I have become somewhat of a professional student but I suppose that is better than alternatives (no education).

This year however, I have made some very specific goals.  I am refocusing my life to get my weight regain under control.  Pleased to announce that as of today I am down 26 lbs and the formula seems to be working for me.  (9 years out).

But weightloss isn't my only goal.  I have others.  I have a couple personal enrichment things I want to focus on while I am focused on weight loss.  This would be a good year to focus on some of those projects I always wanted to finish.  I have two books I started and they are both unfinished.  I have a few house projects that would be nice to see completed.  But, most of all I just want to continue my journey.

I think too often we weight loss patients have surgery and we think we are 'done'.  I wish.  You know anyone who has gone down this road and is more than few months out will tell you this journey never really ends.  There are always ways to enjoy it, give back, and help others.  When I started with OH nearly eight years ago my primary goal was to help those that suffer from obesity and that is still my goal today.  The way I help has changed but my own personal mission for 2012 is to help those that suffer from obesity get the help they need - if that is surgery, a plan, or just a friend - that is my goal.

How are you planning to celebrate the new you this year?  Any plans?  Any goals?  I for one really look forward to reading the My Journey stories coming soon.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Yours in the journey,

Bo

Keep up the good work, man.

I have goals.  No resolutions.   ;)

BO!!!! ltns..way too long, I might add...

Not that I was counting or anything, but you used to the word FOCUS, in your post, at least 5 times (before my no-coffee-yet-eyes-crossed). I couldn't help but notice, as thee word screamed out at it. FOCUS is my "power word" for 2012-for much more than just my weight loss journey. I, too, have many unfinished "projects"..no books to write (though I've often thought I should), but many other little things I have let "pile up"-oth physical and mental...

CONGRATS on the RE-loss!! I, personally, know how very hard that can be and how fabulous it feels to WIN out over "the monster". You CAN do this, and we'll be here to support every step of the way-you just have to learn to ASK for what you NEED (hard at first-it gets easier)

I first met you many moons ago (2004), and have seen you go thru many changes, in the years since. 2012 will be YOUR year-I'm so excited for you, and will be first in line to have you autograph those books!!

Hey Bo,

Congratulations on your weight loss!!

I have some personal improvement and career goals to continue from 2011, clean out a few closets that I never want to open and empty the boxes in our garage from our move six years ago (!!).

Like you, I wish there was a point from WLS that we were done.  Put a period on our success and we've arrived - we're done.  The journey continues even today as I am 11 years post-op.  I still love paying it forward through OH and have made some wonderful friends along the way.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Cathy
