I had surgery on Friday, all went well. They said I woke up and asked if I was skinny yet... lol.. must have still been out of it!   I have been walking like it's going to make me rich. I am getting liquid but not a lot. I told my ma she could stop and get some food on the way home because she was really hungry. They got KFC, it didn't bother me in the slightest. I have been so itchy due to the morphine, my skin is really bad. I well. I guess it's all apart of it.

Very very tired. But you have all. been great to me,,, well most. lol so I wanted to update before I laid down.  I am still having the moments when I wake up and I wonder if it's all really even happened.

The staff at Umass memorial in Worcester were amazing! Coudn't have asked for better!

Also, Matt2011 had surgery Friday also, and Ive been texting with him  and he's doing well.

Thank you so much to everyone!

I am in lots of pain! I try not to take the pain meds, but sometimes it's just unbearable.  I woke up at 3 am not realizing I had turned over on my stomach. OUCH!

Gas pain isn't bad, I have been walking around as much as possible.

My biggest problem, aside from the pain is getting in all the carnation and water.

my schedule says hour one- 4 ounces of carnation, hour 2 4-8 ounces of clear liquid, hour three carnation hour 4 clear liquid and it goes on all day... I have a hard time getting down two ounces of carnation in an hour never mind all four. Is this normal?

LAURIE-sorry I wasn't online yesterday, to welcome you "home"

Okay..listen this old hand..nearly 10 years post RNY..30+ yrs nurse and 20+ yrs Mama--take whichever/all that you want/shake it up/leave the rest:

TAKE YOUR PAIN MEDICINE!!!!!! Not taking it, WHEN YOU ARE HURTING, will not prove you are brave or make you a "better patient"..it just shows you are not smart enough to take something that will help to not hurt WHEN you are hurting, 3 days after you have had your guts rearranged...YOU WILL NOT GET ADDICTED IF YOU TAKE AS PRESCRIBED. I am a Hospice nurse. I give Morphine for a living. People get addicted to meds when they take them as NOT prescribed-when they are NOT IN PAIN-when they take PAIN meds to help them SLEEP-when they take meds WITH SOMEONE'S NAME ON THE BOTTLE-now..go take your meds, and lie down..

Speaking of lying down..yes, walking is very important..but so is getting ENOUGH REST, at this stage of the game...when you are TIRED...LIE DOWN..easy/peasey...PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR BODY..

As for fluid intake--you can only do what you can do..yes-do TRY to follow your doc's directions-but do not FORCE it-If you TRULY cannot even come close-if you get to the point of not being able to even swallow your own saliva, or urinating every few hours, please do inform your doc's office..just because. Strictures/dehydration CAN happen. NOT to OVERalarm-just always lean toward the side of caution, to stay safe and healthy.

I take the time to say all this stuff, because I CARE..not because I think I know everything..or anything, some days!!!

CONGRATS on taking charge of your health and your future. I predict you are going be VERY successful!!
