Was wondering about lose skin for someone who is about five feet and 200 lbs.  I do plan on continuing to workout and tone after, but maybe if someone can post a pic so I can see?

My surgery is Friday, I'm so nervous, but so ready.

Best of luck to you!  Everyone has a little loose skin to very loose/hanging/sagging skin.  It all depends on the individual.....ht. wt., length of time you have been obese, genetics, age, how and where you carry your wt....etc.

February will be my 4 yr surgiversary date.  I have a little loose skin on my stomach that I am self conscious about....and my boobs hang a little....but nothing that Victoria's Secret cant fix!  lol

Feel free to go to my profile and look at my pics.

PS.....For about 3 months prior to surgery I began using Skin Firming lotion religiously!  Not sure if it worked as well as I had hoped but I honestly can't complain.  I am very thankful that my skin issues are not worse.....however, doesn't mean I wouldn't love a tummy tuck and breast lift!

Add me as a friend and you can see my before and after plastics pics, but remember I am 47 and was MO for 20 years prior to surgery with ****loads of stretch marks.  My friend who was 480 and lost 300lbs had way less stretch marks and although her skin sagged very bad it wasnt all puckery like mine.

Good luck with your sutgery!

I can't post any pics right now because I seem to have acquired a cyberstalker but please feel free to go to my profile and look under Florida pictures ...

I was a lightweight like you when I started and I exercised all the way down .... also tried to swim as well as walk/run /hike because that tones every muscle in the body including the smallest ones.

I started as a lightweight, although was 54 when I had the surgery. I exercised regularly, and looked great clothed.

Undressed, however, was a different story and the dragging skin caused issues beyond the typical rashes/bacterial infections.

So hang in there, see where/how YOU wind up, and how you feel about it. If it weren't for the need for actual reconstruction for me, I would have left it alone and said I was great for my age.

I talked to my surgeon about  this because I was worried too. He's a no bs guy and flat out said "No matter how much exercise, pilates or yoga or miracle toning lotions you use, there will be excess skin and that can't be toned. You're young and so your skin should be more elastic but your breast will probably become deflated and other areas may have excess skin too. Everyone reacts in different ways but for some plastic surgery is the only option because the skin is not going anywhere. When you get there you can decide whether or not you want to get plastics done."

He was so right. I'm 5'7", I've lost a little over 100 and have a little more to go. I've done  basically everything (pilates, gym time, outdoor activities, lotions, scrubs). Everyone has a different process and you wont really know how your body reacts till your closer to your goal weight. At that point it's totally a personal choice whether someone turns to plastics.

I used to think plastic surgery was too vain... and then, once I realized how unhappy I was with my excess skin I changed my mind. I'm 22 and know I wouldn't be happy having to get ultimate push-ups and spanx for the rest of my life- plus clothes fit me so awkwardly even with those additions. I wanted a body that would show off all the hard work I was doing and my skin was in the way of that. II've gotten a lower body lift (a little over 2 months ago) and plan on doing some more when I can take time off. You can check out pics on my profile.

I realize not everyone shares the same view on plastics and I respect that but if you are interested you should come check out the plastic surgery forum and see what people have to say because it's very helpful!

I hope your surgery goes well and congratulations on this new step of your life!

Good luck with everything!!

There is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent loose skin as you're losing weight.  There is no magical lotion, cream, or exercise.  You just wait and see what you get.  I can tell you that over the last few years, that my skin has tightened "a little", but not anything to get excited about.  I still consider myself blessed, for I can conceal my flaws easily and look great clothed.  I also have a husband who loves who I am and I swear he doesn't see my skin issues at all.  If given the time, money and opportunity for plastics, I'd probably jump at the chance, however I consider myself content overall.
