The holiday can be tough but it doesn't have to be.

I've been on OH since 2002 so this comes from my own personal experiences rather than any clinicial support.  The holiday(s) can be tough.  Trying to warch your carbs, your calories, or your just get enough protein can be tough because there is just too much opportunity to fall off the wagon.  This year I tried something new and I have to say It seems to be working for me.

I started in November on a daily calorie monitoring plan.  I give myself 14 days of strict caloric monitoring and then (1) day to enjoy whatever I want.  It may not work for all but for me (9 years post-op) it has worked.  I am down 23 lbs and I am really happy with the way this monitoring plan works.  Nothing to buy, nothing to do except stay between 1500 - 2000 cals.  Keep in mind I am 9 years out so this wouldn't apply to new post-ops (of course!).

The holidays don't have to be challenging.  Just plan your meals, your party, or your treats along a safe plan that fits your surgery type and/or your present journey.

I wish everyone the healthiest and happiest Christmas (Holiday) season.  Be safe, enjoy, and don't stress out the holidays..... just enjoy.

Congratulations on 23 pounds in a little over a month.  23 pounds lost during the holidays is amazing!!

Happy and Healthy Holidays to you and your family too!

Merry Christmas and congrats on the loss.  I ran around so much today and never ate anything until a few bites of ham at dinner and now I am tracking Santa and baking cupcakes.  Food just doesn't matter that much to me anymore.

That is encouraging for a person just 6 weeks out from RNY. I really get scared when I think about a year from now and so many people telling us that chances of gaining back the weight are so high with this surgery. I will put this where I can have accesss to it next year.

Bo...you are the MAN. I know that I can't stick to a number of calories during the holidays. urgh. I wish I could...but I know Im setting myself up for failure. So...I will eat in moderation during the holidays and come Jan 2nd (after black eyed peas and cabbage oh and dessert)...I will get back on track again.
