What all do you eat to get all your protein in?  I just can't abide drinking the protein shakes anymore.  Had no problem before surgery but now it is terrible.  I can eat anything low sugar and low fat.  I try to eat meat, beans, cheeses.  What else?  Thanks.

I eat low carb and low sugar because I am diabetic and it helps with my maintenance. I don't ever fry food but I don't really count the fats in my diet - I eat butter and heavy cream! My philosophy is that I would rather eat a smaller portion of the real thing than a substitute - but bear in mind I am 7 years out so my pouch may be more forgiving than yours!

I eat a lot of chicken, fish, beef, lamb, pork, shrimp, eggs, cheese etc - I love cooking and can always find different recipes for preparing all that protein. This time of year, I make use of my crockpot at least 3 or 4 times a week and we grill a couple of times a week too (even in the snow!!!!) .

Can't for the life of me remember what we had on Saturday but on Sunday we had thin sliced chicken breasts which I marinaded in olive oil and herbs, grilled with steamed cauliflower and brocolli. Yesterday I made a crustless quiche with ham, pine nuts, tomatoes with green chilies, two types of cheese and a 3 egg and cream mixture (you could easily substitute skim milk) mixture. It used up all my fridge leftovers and it was yummy!

Thanks.  I have been trying to eat some type of meat, cheese and milk everyday.  Also veggies and trying to have a balanced meal.  Usually I cook lunch and then have the leftovers for dinner.  This is a new thing for me.  Never have liked to cook and we ate out a lot.  Probably why I have now had WLS to get rid of all those meals.  ha

Thanks again for the help.

When I was almost 6 months I quit doing shakes and now get all my protein from food. I couldn't stomach the protein any longer anyway. Yuck!

I am 3 + years from surgery.   I need 120-150 gr of proteins per day. If I get less - my tests show low normal level of proteins.
And some days I just can't eat enough to get that much protein in me.  But need them anyway - so I do shakes, or incorporate the proteins with yogurt or bake cookies, or protein cakes. Also- summmer time - protein ice cream is a hoot.
