Thanks Martita... see... that is what I love about you... your passion and kindness and willingness to let people be themselves.

When I read your posts, I listen to your opinion and I am swayed by it.

You Martita are someone who can bring all sides together, and that is what needs to be happening here....

Don't apologize.  You're right.

Neal, I think you have the point exactly. To ban someone because a few people have issues with her communication style means that the powers that be think we are so weak we need protecting.  There is a block button.  To use it  is a persons choice or not, we have all had that choice removed from us.  You are speaking to both sides of a complicated issue because you see it for what it is.  By the way, kudos to you on making the band work for you.  That's awesome.

I think that regardless of which name was banned here, the reasoning and the way OH went about it is pretty disgusting.  This site has been one of my favorites, and I knew there was a lot of drama behind the scenes that I never got into, but wow... never did I imagine it was this bad.

I've done moderation myself in various forums, and this just seems to come down to pettiness.  It does nothing to help or advance this forum.  If you take the name "Diana Cox" out of the equation, and put personal issues with her aside, I think you can see how despicable all of this is.  I am sad that such a thing is allowed to go on here.  I am very glad that Fini and others are telling us what really happened, putting their own accounts in danger.  I applaud your efforts, thank you!

 exactly!!!  I agree completely.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I have said this before and it may not be a popular opinion but OH doesn't exist for our pleasure.  It exists for one reason, that is to make money for the people that run it.  They have a right to do whatever they want with their site.  We have a right to vote with our shoes and find other places to share our views and get our information.  No one is forced to be here.  If we can't find a site we like we also have the option to create a site that fits our vision of what a WLS board should look like.
I have belonged to a forum on this board for quite a while that I feel could be a model for how a WLS support group works.  There are no attacks allowed.  What is wrong with that?  Is our freedom of speech denied because we can't call another member an idiot?  There is more help and information available there then any other place I have seen.  People are kind because they want to be kind, not because they are forced to by fear of being banned.  If they don't like the tone they don't have to post there.  I personally don't think that being helpful and being abusive, however you define abusive, are mutually inclusive.  You can be supportive and helpful without hurting another.
Personally I like Diana and will miss her.  I agree, she adds a lot to this board her loss is a great blow to many.  I got her.  She wasn't being abrasive just to be mean, she is passionate about her beliefs and knew how to effectively get people's attention.  She did a lot for a lot of people with no gain in it for her at all.  I am sorry to see her go and I don't agree with her being banned.  But it wasn't my decision to make and I really have no say in the matter.  If I am really unhappy I can leave.  I doubt OH would miss me.  Even if everyone here left OH would survive.  There are new people coming every day to fill the void.  That is just the way it is on the Internet.

I like Diana Cox, and I like her style of speech. I'm a "no nonsense" type of person myself. Sometimes when you use "tact" all the other person hears is the"tact" not the fact.

If OH has banned her for something she said on another site, then OH will reap the "benefits" of it. If we have to tiptoe around in fear, then it isn't worth it to be on this site. I for one, do not like rainbows, sunshine, smiles, and "daily devotionals". I like facts, cold hard facts, which DC always gave.

She calls it like she sees it. I do too, and I cry "foul" on OH if they banned her because of her guaranteed freedom of speech!

If you don't like her, fine, that's what the block button was "supposedly" created for.

For shame OH, for shame!!

For Shame is also what I'm thinking at the moment.

Having met Diana a couple of months ago at a support group meeting and received offers of support from her and Larra, I shudder to think what us Newbies will do without her.

I've been on the internet a good long while now and know that a story is rarely over when it seems to be, my HOPE is that Diana will make her way back to OH (the sooner the better).
