My Nutritionist told me that I can only have the vegitarian Bush's beans. I am not a fan...

I like the onion, boston's best, maple flavors..

Can anyone who is post op tell me their reactions to beans?

She probably only wants you to have the plain beans because the others, esp types like maple, are full of sugar.
Good luck,
Holly

Right but if I am eating a small amount 9 grams of sugar for half a cup isn't bad if I'm not eating a full cup.

I don't get it, maybe others will have input too. Thanks for your post.

9 grams is a lot of sugar and could cause you to dump. I prepare my own from dried beans so I can control what goes in. I am only 3 months post-op, so I try to avoid anything with more than 3 grams or so of sugar per serving. Eating carbs may cause cravings for more carbs. Just something that has worked for me so far.

Right but that's for half a cup. If I'm only having 1/3 cup or something, than it's not nine grams. I'll figure it out.

I'm so excited to tell you this, I read this somewhere, and tried this, drain the juice/sauce from baked beans. Bushes are best and heat they absorb the flavor without all the sugar. Yes this is good.

Okay, here's how to deal.  Find a local bbq and order a baby pork sandwich.  Dump that pork right into the beans (bun in trash), then add some Splenda brown sugar, a little mustard, a dash of vanilla, and finally, carmelize some onions in the oven to add to the beans.

That's the closest you'll get to the beans at my restaurant without all the fat and stuff that I call "love".
