Spent the whole day (and on to the early evening before his flight home) watching the two of them recount old stories and catch up on almost 30 years of "new" ones.  These are the things that we'll sit in the old folks home remembering .... with a big smile.

Aw, that just put a smile on my face again to see this post bumped up.

Thanks to all of you who commented and sent birthday wishes to my husband, and shared a bit of the happy tears at the amazing surprise.

(The drywall is going up in the back of the house, and I'm imagining that we can make the guest bedroom inviting for another, perhaps longer, visit from his friend.  In the meantime, I have the constant taste of drywall mud dust in my mouth, and a fine covering of it throughout the front of the house.  I hope by next Wednesday, when we are having our traditional dinner for the first night of Hanukkah (my famous latkes and pork roast .. it's a long story), things will at least be less messy.)
