Hi everyone, I'm Pam. I had surgery on November 21st. Just five days ago.

I am so excited that I found this forum. I think this is going to be just what I need for support.
I have been reading some post today and what a breath of fresh air you all are.

I love the before and after pictures. Those alone will help me keep positive.

I am looking forward to becoming friends with many of you and sharing my journey.

Blessings for a great day to you all.

Hi everyone, my name is Alison. I am thinking about having surgery. Afriend of mine had the surgery and she has had a lot of success and she told me about this website. Not only am I new here but I am just learning the computer so bear with me. Hopefully I can teach myself how to navigate on the website so that I can get a lot from it.

Welcome, ALISON! Take your time navigating the site-you will spend many hours here. it can be tricky, but well worth the efforts. This is the MAIN forum. You may also want to check out the various "surgery type" forums, as you do your research (top of the page-in the middle-click on "Forums"). you might also want to check the board for your state. No idea how active your state board is, but you're more than welcome to visit us on the Texas board!

Best of luck to you. Post often. he best way to get "responses" is to be as specific as possible in your "topic" line-like you did on this one. Don't just say "help". If your question is about protein you may say "How much protein in a day" in the topic-something simple like that will make your posting more enjoyable/informative for you.

Looking forward to following your journey!

Welcome Pam from Arkansas :)

Which surgery did you have?  You can also visit the forum for your surgery type to have more focussed questions answered.

May you have a speedy recovery.

Welcome to the OH family, PAM! Congrats on making the decision to take charge of your weight, and thus your HEALTH.

I spent HOURS and HOURS, pre op, looking and pics-and that was 10 years ago-when there weren't all that many!

MY best advice-sip sip sip, walk-walk-walk-, res-rest-rest, and just enjoy what will prove to be the wildest ride of your life!

Ask any questions/Voice any concerns...We're here to help...We'll each have a DIFFERENT answer, of course, usually..lol..as we are all individuals, and our experiences are our own, but our hearts are in the right in right place, regardless of where our guts wound up..

Hi Pam, I just had surgery (VSG) on the 15th.  This is a great website with tons of information.  It's very exciting and I too look forward to getting to know many people.

Welcome Pam and Allison,
This is an excellent support group, and your hospitals will have ones for you to attend and they really help. You will get all sorts of advice on all sorts of topics, just take what you want and leave what you don't. Lots of food/recipie ideas, and you'll find that you aren't the only one who has whatever random problems. My surgery is in 3 days, I'm having RNY with Dr. Panemanglore in Schenectady, NY. My pictures on my page are mostly my face, and from before. Maybe I'll get brave enough to put some body shots on there. I started my journey at 260 pounds and have lost my 10% which all insurance companies insist on. Today I am at 232.8 pounds and already have more energy. I lost my pre-weight with a combination of a Lean & Green diet from Oct. 10 until Nov. 2nd, then I switched to Medifast shakes, 4 a day with one Lean & Green meal at dinner time. I only switched because I got sick of making so many food decisions. I'm so excited that I'm where I'm at, and you will be too Good luck to both of you and please keep your chin up and keep me in touch. Good luck and god bless you both.

Pam and Allison,  welcome to the site and congradulations on your upcoming surgeries.  Some suggested going to the forms for the type of surgery that you want or thinking of.  I have another suggestion for you.  If you go to the forms,  go down to the states.  That's were you can get support from people within the state that you live in.
Good luck with your journey.

Welcome to the both of you! I am new as well, joined today :)

I hope to learn a lot from everyone, and just reading the message boards gives me hope. I have just been approved for surgery from my insurance so I am very very early in the process. I already met with the doctors, got my blood work done and my next appt is december 29th to meet with a nutrionist.  It has been very hard because of the holidays but I have been watching my bread and sugar intake so that I can loose weight before the surgery. I don't have a date yet, but was told that this is going to be a 6 month process. I hope I get it done sooner!  Any advise will be so helpful from anyone!!
