Hi, Wendy,
I hope this finds you feeling better.
In response to your post about tight clothes, I used this strategy yesterday. I wore snug jeans to the Thanksgiving Feast.
If I don't do this in social gatherings, I become possessed and think I can put it away with the best of them. I begin making secret rationalizations in my mind of why I should be eating something I know is not really beneficial to my program.
I am much more conscious of the food I eat when I am alone. I seem to go into a food fog in larger groups.
After a careful meal last night, my breathing was only sightly impeded, lol. This was my clue to stop eating. Truthfully, I was neither deprieved or stuffed, and could face the scale this morning.
I do see stretch pants as the beginnging of the end for me. I don't want to wear clothes too small either, that is not flattering.
However, jeans keep me aware of my priorities, when I am prone to a disconnect between mind and body.
How are you feeling, otherwise?
Fondly,
Pam

I don't think people *****gain do it simply because the wear pre op clothing. I say that because the vast majority of people can't wait to get rid of big clothes. They may keep a single outfit, but they don't keep the whole closet full. And regain tends to happen about 2 years after surgery.
I understand your comments about clothing keeping you in check, and feeling when a few extra pounds have shown up. Making the decision right then to address the issue.
Regain can happen for a lot of reasons. And only the person who goes through regain understands what drove theirs. Regain is my biggest fear. That fear keeps me honest, because frankly if tight clothing had been enough to help me manage my weight, would have never needed a WLS.

I don't think baggy clothes has anything to do with it. I tend to wear baggier clothes (or did) when I was heavier just because I didn't feel like dressing up, and I didn't like the way I looked.
Also, I had pecans yesterday inside stuffing and it was fine. It was my first time since surgery in August. I actually haven't had any problems with ANY food as long as I eat it really slowly. I try something, take a really slow bite, and wait a few minutes. Then, once I know it's "ok," i go ahead and continue eating. It takes a bit longer when I try something new, but at least nothing goes down wrong... not yet at least.
Hope that helps in the future. I think we just need to be careful every time we try new things. Everyone's different though. I can eat potatoes, yet my brother (he also had RNY) cannot tolerate them.

I'm not a re-gainer yet, but had the habit of wearing baggy clothes on my way down the scale mostly because I didn't like investing $$$ in clothes that I'd only wear for a short time before having to buy more.
Now if I wear baggy stuff, it's just for comfort or to suit the task, like putting up Christmas lights.
