Hi OH family. I wanted to write a quick post because I have decided to have surgery with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. I am looking for anyone who has had surgery or going to have surgery with Dr. Joya. I would like to conversate and talk to anyone and everyone who is willing to share their experience with me. I am nervous but excited at the same time. I have heard nothing but great things about him and his staff, but I would like to hear more. So please message me if you have the time and would like to share. Thanks

I know nothing about Joya except what I've rad. Here is something that was posted earlier this week by someone who had the band done by him.

If all you've heard are great things about him and his staff, you haven't been looking very hard...

Okay thank you guys for your replies and responses. I really appreciate it. I am going to do a little more research, but I have been thinking about something.. There isn't a doctor out there that doesn't have a bad story somewhere in their doctoral history. Every story isn't going to be peachy keen. Right now my health is in jeopardy and everyday I feel bits and pieces of it slipping away. I am asking God to guide my journey. I am asking God to show me in the right direction. But as of right now I have to go where my money will take me. I am sorry and my heart goes out to anyone who has had a bad surgery or complications. If we write down a list of every doctor that has had a bad complaint in the world, there wouldn't be many doctors left. So I am going to take a chance and pray for the best outcome. I have to try. Thanks once again.

I looked for anything bad about my surgeon before I went to him and didn't find anything. nothing bad at all.

why settle?

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I have to agree with Jackie on this one. I found nothing bad on my Doctor either and he has literally completed thousands of weight loss surgeries, which is ultimately why I chose him (tons of experience and without horror stories).
While I do understand your reasoning the fact that most doctors have some negative comments out there, you MUST understand that because the surgeon you are using is practicing on foreign soil there will be absolutely NO RECOURSE for you or your family should anything go wrong during or after your surgery. That is a very scary thought for most people. I understand that you are having health issues and I understand your desire to improve those issues via weight loss but please consider how risky these procedures can be and the high risk of complications afterwards before you place your LIFE in the hands of a surgeon who's reputation is not stellar.

BTW although I am not religious myself I try really hard not to bash those who are because it is a personal choice for everyone and your personal choice to practice or not practice religion are none of my business just as mine is none of yours. BUT...I have to say that even when I was religious I did not count on God bailing my ass out when facts and information were presented to me and I CHOSE to ignore it and do my thing anyway all the while saying I trust God to see me through! Please consider that the facts and information you are getting now PRIOR to letting this surgeon operate on you might be God trying to see you through this by giving you what you need to make a GOOD decision...food for thought!
Best of luck whatever your decision is in the end. :-)
