PROGRAM FEE?SURGERY GOT CANCELED?HELP!!!
i dunno??? Looking for a good surgeon with no program fee...I think they scheduled it so they can force me to pay...like two days before....who can pull $2900 out of their ass...I recall them mentioning a program fee not the amount...my surgery was scheduled in Aug. for nov. 7 and resceduled in October for Nov. 14 and I did not get a reminder then either??? Totally traumatized???
Mine was only $150 and I had to pay it before I could attend the pre op nutrition class. I would maybe call and speak to the surgeon and ask why you weren't told about this fee upfront and ask him directly what arrangements can be made.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I called his supposed direct cell and left a message with the on call nurse for him to call me back so I could work something out with him but he never returned my call...the lady that left the message on my phone freaked me out so i really don't want to deal directly with her or the front desk people??? Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"recall them mentioning a program fee not the amount"
So in fact you were told about the fee and ignored it and never followed up on it.
I am perplex at how someone can schedule such a life-altering surgery and not pay enough attention to what they are told that they are "surprised" by a program fee they admit they were told about upfront.
It makes me wonder what other things you "weren't told" about that are vitally important to know.
This is a serious surgery and you need to do your research and to pay attention to what your program tells you. Some of the things they tell you to do in the early days in particular are important to follow because ignoring them would be life-threatening.

Gawd...I hope he listened better to the REST of the info.
Yeah well... I'd be surprised to be honest. [insert shrug here]
This is just a pet peeve of mine. I see people come on here and claim not to be told this and that and then everyone says their surgeon sucks or their program sucked. But one time some guy who had my surgeon came on and claimed he wasn't told this and that and EVERYTHING he claimed not to be told was in one or both of the two 35-60 pages guides we were given.
Was it my program's or surgeon's fault he never read the those and never asked them any questions when he had questions and then stopped going for follow up after the 3rd month? (Or it might have been 7 weeks, can't remember exactly now). HE sure thought so but I knew better.
This surgery changes your anatomy for life. You HAVE to pay attention or you are going to screw yourself up royally. It's not like you change your mind 3 months later like you can about Jenny Craig or Weigh****chers.

Yes, this. Plus they DID tell this person several times before the surgery was canceled that the payment was required, so I'm not sure why the OP even went forward? Don't blame THEM for their program fee. Disagree with it if you want, but you signed up for it, reserved an OR, knew about it, and then bailed on them.

In all honesty, a LOT of people can "pull $2900 out of their ass"...or their bank account...especially if they paid attention to what they were told MOTNHS AGO, and have had MONTHS to plan for, instead of vaguely remembering bits and pieces.
I had three choices in CA at the time. One required a full payment of EVERYTHING up front and then, if and when the insurance paid, I'd get back something, The next required $3000. The last required $800...but their surgeon was (still is) an asshole.
Are you going to be able to afford all the follow-up? The blood tests...the protein drinks...the supplements...they all add up. And you need to LISTEN to that info so that you don't lose your teeth or your mind.
I was just reading this and came across your ignorant responses to my wife. You really shouldn't comment on situations you know nothing about. Especially when someone gets horrible news like that they just want a little support from people who have been in similar situations.Just so you know she ended up getting her surgery done with the program fee being waived because they were at fault! So remember if you dont have something nice to say keep your angry bitter mouth shut!
